About this app

Notice 8/7/22 : The 3.0 update starts development in September as we get ready to launch our new app, Carpenter! GCA Launchers next update will be a partial rewrite as the introduction to Android 13 and new gesture changes will be effecting the current irritations of GCA Launcher. Keep tabs on the telegram channel for development!

GCAL is a launcher app that was initially inspired by Chromium OS and over the years has adapted some of its own individual features that make it unique from other launcher apps on the play store. This is a non-traditional launcher that does not follow the Grid based homescreen concepts. It instead, follows a single screen concept that allows the user to bring to the forefront, apps that are apart of their daily routines and allow quick navigation to the features that matter the most like app shortcuts, notifications, customization and widget access.

Launcher Features : Some of the following features may need to be required to purchase from the add-on store while others come preloaded. You may even notice some core launcher features that have been inspired by competitive launchers on the market.

-Customizeable Material You experience powered by MonetCompat library
-Customizeable homescreen gestures
-Pin Favorite Apps to your Shelf
-Customizeable app drawer with multi search functionality
-Traditional App Groups or folders
-App Security with pin lock
-Icon customization with label editing, icon masking, material you theming, icon packs and more!
-Dynamic Badges, Dots, and Badge Counts can be applied to apps to show notification counts as well as preview notifications from the popup menu.
-Indicator badges show the status of an app based on its location and type.

Premium Features are sold individually to keep funding alive for development for the years to come but we also offer oppurtunities to get premium features from the help of the community.

We will be supporting countries that don't have access to Google Play Billing soon! We have something special planned for you!

App Permission Details : As noted below...

Access External Memory - used to store user cache, access wallpaper color info and save launcher database info for backup and restore functionality.

Usage Data Persmission - required to access information regarding predictive apps feature. This is not required to activate.

the first thing I've noticed when opening the launcher itself is that annoying search bar that can't be moved to the top of my screen. This is exactly why I left the pixel launcher for Nova, a few other things while there are icons on the screen they're not properly labeled for Google's accessibility talkback screen reader. and if the docs icons can be increased that would be awesome, I would love to give this particular home screen replacement a try but it does need some work..

This app looks good but I am having alot of issues such as when I try opening the app drawer, the panel from the left with settings and stuff shows up and If I try pin a application, no changes appear and sometimes bug out with blur related things, and sometimes trying to close the settings menu would exit the launcher and make the system reset the launcher to default. Would recommend it to everyone after it has a bunch of its bugs fixed!

Given the aim of this launcher I expected good performance, but unfortunately it's not even close to usable on my HTC u11 Eyes. Can't dismiss app drawer (even by tapping back/home), long press on home screen worked once and never again, tapping google search bar does nothing... Not sure how it worked for others, so I hope the dev(s) can figure out what's going on. Oh, and it says "it's a nice day" when it was in fact an average day, obviuos bug.
