I can see the concept and potential of the app but there are lots of things which can and probably need to be added. Compared to the website, this app lacks a lot of fetures, for example finding quotes by author, book, etc. or finding them in the search bar as a whole, the latter being exclusively for books and authors. Adding a few more things to the app which are accessable on the website can drastically improve it and even make it more intuitive for the users by making the navigation easier.
I looooove the concept and contents that this app provides. The datebase is HUGE and one could find any book in its library. But PLEASE.. please make it work a little faster. I can't even begin to describe how effing slow it is. You have had 5 MILLION downloads till date I'm sure something could be done to improve this atrocious interface?
okay, the last version of this app was my favorite, and the last update feels like a downgrade more than an upgrade.. taking out the books' genre section, making information harder to find and the author pages are horribly messy. also, slowness and an overall feeling of sloppiness. as I said, last one was incredible and easy.
I LOVE goodreads, it's awesome and useful and their website works great but unfortunately their app is lacking a lot of the cool features and reliability that their desktop site has. It is glitchy and slow, and certain things you'd like to do can only be done in a browser, not on the app.
Needs a serious update, material design and UI. Slow, takes awhile for each page to load, and takes too many taps to do stuff. Open app, wait for it to load, tap search, wait, type title, wait, tap book as it shows up in suggestions, wait, tap edit review, wait, tap edit review on the next screen too, wait, tap start date, wait, tap a date, wait, etc...too many taps. Just to add a start or finish date takes 8-10 taps (at least)Then 4 taps to back out of it. Should be able to do all this inside the "shelves" section. *this app sucks, just a basic ass web wrapper for the mobile site.. It's slow and badly designed. Doesn't use material design and the UI doesn't work well with touchscreen smart devices.*
I've just noticed that a lot of the more recent books haven't registered with a 'date read' log. I'd assumed that when you gave a book its star rating and it changed the label to 'read' that the date would log automatically. Now, when I look at my 'read' book list in order of date, there many which aren't there, but have been put right at the bottom of the list with no date. I then went into 'review this book', logged a finish date, and it STILL didn't show up with the date. This makes the app useless as a diary of books read. Fix it please!
