Reduced functionality compared to website (for example if a book is part of a series I can't click on the series name to see the other books that are part of it). Also search function is all over the place (ex: if I start writing Dark Ma-as in Dark Matter-I do not even see this book suggested until I finish typing it in full; instead I see Dark Places, The Left Hand of Darkness and others containing the word Dark. Annoying and could do with an update.
I love Goodreads since it's a to go destination for book lovers. I've used it for a while and found it useful and crafts well. But all of the above points were true of the iPhone version of Goodreads. It's got a good UI, good navigation and easy maneuverable screens. The Android version of the app is a huge disappointment. I hope the developers do better.
It doesn't load all of my shelves and it's really inconvenient to update reading progress or see progress on all my books at a glance. You also can't view different editions, which for books that have been through multiple versions is really a drawback. The iOS version is a lot better although it too does not have the functionality of the website.
The site is great for finding good books. But at least a half-dozen times, I've written a review, only to have to not save properly. This is a major problem that someone should look into.
It doesn't have a very good user interface. For example, the recommendations section is great in theory but you're not able to get details on the books you find. It forces you to do a search for the book title you see in 'recommendations.'
I love using this app. It's very easy to use, and easy to figure out. I love being able to scan books in instead of having to search for them. It might not have everything the actual website has, but it's still an amazing app.
