Website is great, app not so much I love the Goodreads website, but the app is much less user friendly. With the most recent update, they've completely destroyed the most useful feature of the app - scanning. First, the ability to mass scan and autoshelve books seems to be gone entirely. Second, they've switched from simple barcode scanning to using Amazon's scanning system, which should allow you to scan covers as well as barcodes. The only problem is it rarely works, on covers or barcodes. Very disappointing.
Bugs, Bugs and more Bugs. I cannot do things like update status and more. Type a progress status then when saving it vanishes and at times happens with reviews too and am forced to use my laptop often. Also from notifications, I click on a group and it takes me to updates. Yes, my app is up to date (at the time I was writing this). Fix all these bugs please; I would like to manage my account from my phone with real time data whenever I refresh or make changes.
Please fix the app The app takes years to load and even then I can't open Notifications and barely able to leave a reading update. It aslo frequently pops the error message and the hell stars over again. Please fix this, I get only frustration from this app :(
Ok. But too many bugs Shelves dont update. Have to force stop app and restart it for it to update. Why remove the ability to scan books?? That was the best bit of this app. Will give it a couple of weeks, if it doesnt improve then unfortunately i will have to uninstall it.
Just ok. Was expecting much better. Needs a serious update, material design and UI. Slow, takes awhile for each page to load, and takes too many taps to do stuff. Open app, wait for it to load, tap search, wait, type title, wait, tap book as it shows up in suggestions, wait, tap edit review, wait, tap edit review on the next screen too, wait, tap start date, wait, tap a date, wait, etc...too many taps. Just to add a start or finish date takes 8-10 taps (at least)Then 4 taps to back out of it. Should be able to do all this inside the "shelves"
Great app! I live this app. It helps keep order to all the books I read (which is A LOT!). The only change I would make would be the ability to get onto the online Goodreads site without it trying to shift me back into the app. I really enjoy exploring the main Goodreads page online to look for lists of new books & authors which is not nearly as easy to do on the app. By far, THE BEST feature is the barcode scanner! I don't have to look up the books I'm reading, I just scan them right in!
