The latest update sounded good, offering the ability to change the LAN address of your network. Unfortunately any changes made are not applied. You cannot delete IP reservations either. In both cases the app goes through the motions of saving your changes but then reverts to the previous settings.
Sort of ok... I bought a twin pack of the WiFi units to try to overcome/identify local ISP issues. ~£200 later, I'm none the wiser...The reason I give this 2 stars is that I expected to be able to use the live monitoring feature to spot fluctuations. Every time I launch it, however, it takes close to a *minute* to start. I can think of a) no logical reason for this b) no other app I've ever had, on any platform, that was so slow to respond. The app, therefore, is of limited use for my specific (real time monitoring) uses. Yes, I've tried to force stop/restart, uninstall/reinstall, is just not very good. I expect better from Google.
Love it but wish you could edit parental controls. I have 3 kids of different ages. From what I can tell, the parental control is all or nothing. I believe some routers allow you to select app access/restrictions and age groups. If Google wifi added this feature, I would vote all 5 stars. My house is two stories, brick, and long so I had lots of Wi-Fi dead spots. Google wifi with 3 units totally fixed the problem. It was SUPER easy to setup, even with Verizon FIOS and the app works great!
Overall this app is pretty decent. I just wish that the one day usage reset at midnight and showed the usage for that day instead of the past 24 hours instead. Also wish we were able to see each month separate instead of the past 30 days. I would like to know how much bandwidth I use in all of October, all of November, all of December, for example. That's how my ISP calculates my bandwidth usage.
It has to BIG problems I've found so far, both involving the guest network. When you go into the guest wifi settings that show the list if devices you can add visibility to, alot of the device names don't match the names on the connected devices page and are generic names. To make it worse, if you edit the names on the connected devices page they don't get updated on the guest network page AND there's no ip or Mac address to help you identify the device. There is NO WAY to identify those devices. The second issue is there's no way to refresh that guest list, it just keeps growing making the name problem that much worse.
It didn't start because it didn't find in my bed space renting house Wi-Fi device. What the heck it Is?
Family Wi-Fi: Delay a schedule for 30 minutes, even after it starts.
Advanced settings: Customize LAN settings including router IP, subnet, and DHCP address pool.
General stability & performance improvements.
