Good luck trying to figure out why it doesn't work if anything goes wrong. There are no troubleshooting tools in this app. And I mean nothing. It will tell you that an access point is offline and nothing else. No error log or even a simple message.
The data history is wrong. It shows I have used 13 GB total, 89gb on the Xbox, and 21 on my tablet. Why can it not give me an accurate count on my gb downloaded?
For once could Google keep a project, device, or app and commit to it! The mesh concept is great, but your alienating onhub, much like Android wear, hangouts.....the list goes on & on & on. You'll probably do the same to your new router in a year so why should I buy one now? For the most part a really like this router. I can't help but notice all the ratings on here don't have any reviews with them. It's pathetic that Google has such a huge fake rating problem even with their own products.
Does not allow you to set custom IP ranges for the internal network. It is hard set to 192.168.86.x. Google says this is an "advanced" feature and it is unavailable
I have always been a Prosumer for home network setups. Three Google WiFi's replaced a ubiquiti edge router setup. What I found was that while playing with network configurations is fun, I would never stay on top of updating my firmware. With Google Wi-Fi this is no longer an issue. The device's just work (each of mine are connected via Ethernet with Nvidia shields connected via Ethernet to the spare port on the Google wifi). It's incredibly convenient to manage everything from my phone or tablet. Port forwarding setup is a breeze, as I'd DHCP reservation. The time savings alone makes the price worth it.
App needs more setting. Please add bandwidth throughout for guests network. Example; any guest cannot use more than 10megs at any given time.
Easy password sharing. You can now share the Wi-Fi password for both the primary and guest networks through the companion app.
Improved IP reservations and port forwarding setup flows.
