About this app

The Gemini app is an AI assistant. If you opt in to the Gemini app, it will replace your Google Assistant as the primary assistant on the phone. Some Google Assistant voice features aren't available through the Gemini app yet. You can switch back to Google Assistant in settings.

The Gemini app is available only on Android phones with 2 GB of RAM or more, running Android 10 and up.

This official app is free of charge. Gemini gives you direct access to Google’s best family of AI models on your phone so you can:

- Get help with writing, brainstorming, learning, and more
- Summarise and find quick info from Gmail or Google Drive
- Use text, voice, photos, and your camera to get help in new ways
- Say “Hey Google” to ask Gemini for help with what’s on your phone screen
- Make plans with Google Maps and Google Flights

If you have access to Gemini Advanced it will be right here in the Gemini app.

Ratings and reviews

It's very quick and responsive compared to other AI large language models that I've used. I have three comments on it for improvements. 1. Ability to delete your recent prompts. 2. When dictating using the microphone, it answers too quickly and doesn't wait until you have finished your thought. 3. It doesn't seem to keep a conversation. It's more of like a search engine. Each request seems to be a new request and not a continuing of the prior conversation.
