The Google Home app is designed to show you the status of your home and keep you up to date with what you may have missed. Check in on your home anytime and see a recap of recent events. You can also get a notification if something important happens while you’re away.

Set up your Nest Wifi and Google Wifi in minutes using the Google Home app. Run speed tests, set up a guest network, and easily share your Wi-Fi password with family and friends. Use parental controls like Wi-Fi pause to manage online time for the kids. Automatically prioritize video conferencing and gaming traffic on all devices, or decide which devices to prioritize for all traffic types. Get more insights on your network, whether it’s a notification when a new device joins your network or detailed insights for troubleshooting a poor internet connection.

Ratings and reviews

Very inconsistent. Frequently loses connection with devices. This app is designed in such a way that it works well when it's open. But if you close the app, which happens often because this is more of a background app for controlling other devices in the home, it freaks out and cannot connect to devices without delays, restarts, and conflicts with other software or accounts.

I don't want to be too harsh, but lately it has seemed like Google WANTS me to switch to... that other option. Chromecast can be great, when it works. But the success rate is embarrassingly low. I have spent A LOT of money being loyal to Google. But devices say they are playing music when they are not, albums are not listed in any logical order, videos work or don't, no genre sorting anymore, uploads are completely separate... I could go on. PLEASE can't it just WORK more consistently? Thanks...

Honestly, I don't know if the problem is the home app or my devices or my Google pick wifi network, but my lights are highly inconsistent. When verbally ask my assistant to turn on or off a light it will say it is unavailable and then do it...or sometimes say ok and nothing changes. It happens on some devices more than others, but every single one has had a problem at some point. I've factory reset and re setup most of them and they still fail. I'd love to have a log to diagnose the problem.
