Great app allows you to turn anything with a input display to a smart TV basically. You can stream. Netflix, YouTube even your phones own screen. You can use it on Xbox one and snap whatever your streaming to the side and game while you listen to music or watch Netflix. There is a little input lag like if you change songs there's a delay of about a second or two
Both YouTube and Netflix disconnect constantly. The shows will still play but my notification will disappear and I lose the ability to control volumes through the chromecast. Second update in a row and this issue is not fixed. My phone that is two versions prior has no issues at all but both of my devices that are up to date have this issue.
I'm having great sex with my wife to a tool album on YouTube. My son while upstairs goes to make his lunch for tomorrow. Wanting to listen to music he tells Google home to play. I'm in my room with YouTube tool album on our TV through chromecast. My music stops so his can play. What the hell. We can't both listen to music at the same time. I Share my Netflix with 3 states but I can't share my YouTube with 2 levels of my own house?
Google loses stars on this because of a very bad decision. Google Home is actually much less useful as a result. And as a result of this move, Google Home has degraded in usefulness to the low level of its prime competitor. Bad move, moving the shopping list from Keep to Home/Express. Keep works without a connection. Keep is shareable. Keep is on multiple platforms. Home and Express require a connection, is not shareable, and is extremely limited. So using Google Home to add items to my shopping list is now utterly useless. Bad move, Google.
How hard would it have been to make using Google Express an optional setting for shopping lists? I can't use Express as there's no signal in the supermarket and it doesn't work offline (Express app not available outside USA). You have beta programs for this kind of half baked crap. Looking forward to the next update when another great features is removed.
The device (and the app) work sporadically, plenty of bugs, resulting in unstable connections or the app hanging, especially (but not only) when domestic routers are used, such as the ones typically given by Internet providers for residential lines. Also, more robust data caching mechanisms should be employed. The interface is not sufficiently intuitive and efficient. For example so many clicks are needed for (very) basic tasks, such as simply changing volume... or (de-)activate one of the speakers.
We're very excited to announce that the Google Cast app is now the Google Home app. We have new features* and improvements to make the Google Home app even better!
• Bug fixes and improvements
