I am extremely disappointed. I was excited to get Google because I thought it was going to be speedy and smooth. The TV service is fine-but this app is a big disappointment. I had transitioned to watching a lot of my TV on my tablet since I could take it anywhere in my house. There seems to be nearly nothing that I can get live on the tablet except local programming. The suggestion that I saw on some google site was that folks can download the various apps for different TV networks and use those to watch them. That takes a lot of space on a tablet. I am seriously reconsidering my move. With the talent Google possesses I would think they could offer an app that lets you watch what you are paying for on any device. Don't really want my table to be a remote for my TV.
Most other providers allow you to stream tv content to your phone or other devices, but google fiber is lacking in that ability. Only working when on your own wireless network defeats the purpose. Time Warner, AT&T Uverse both support this, not sure why google, who is all about getting everything on the web, wouldn't allow this functionality.
Haven't had a day down on internet. Speeds incredible, no throttling for heavy use; feel very lucky to have it. Fiber TV beats out close competitors on price and no scammy promotions. Wish I could play recorded content offsite with app. (That's the -1 star.) Were it I alone, I'd drop everything but an antenna and software, plus rentals & maybe Netflix. You'll need to add versatile playback to compete, though, Google, otherwise why bother? (So many options there.) OK, sports-but that's a good time to see friends anyway. Btw: This app much more responsive than physical remote (which is sluggish). The app, per se, is very well designed for the features it includes and is worth 5 stars for competent design. I recommend it highly to all Fiber TV users. Also, physical remote eats batteries like popcorn - replace them often. (Buy some Eneloop™ rechargeable batteries!)
You would think that if you have Google play would be loaded in the apps folder on the Google network box. I'm hesitant about buying movies from Google movies and then having to cast it from a device to the network box. Your GOOGLE for crying out Loud!!! And if Google wanted to give it's customers a well deserved experience that it itself has boasted about, it would provide it's "competitors sevices and apps" like Amazon Prime. If you , Google, crossed the threshold of providing hardware and fiber cable routing some forethought should have been given about this. You're in the communications business now and you better catch up
At least it works when the standard remote fails (which is often). I would be happy to use my phone exclusively if it had a decent fast forward button rather than the slider.
On Fibertv I can't stream video without it buffering or freezing (I get about 1-2 minutes of viewing without buffering or freeze frame takes about 5 minutes before video streaming resumes, audio works fine. However once the freeze frame decides to unlock it adjust to the audio channel. Made numerous attempts to resolve this issue to no avail. This occurs on other streaming devices i.e. cell phones, tablets, etc.
