I really love it. It's feature filled, smooth, and overall fun to use. The automatic responses are really cool. My only complaints would be (coming from hangouts) that there isn't a desktop or web client, and that all media gets saved to an image folder instead of a temp directory/being cached.
For this app to be truly great, there needs to be some additions. Firstly, it needs SMS integration. This would then reduce the need to use another app to text. Secondly, it needs integration with Duo for it to truly compete with Apple's iMessage. Thirdly, it needs a web or desktop client, just like iMessage. Lastly, it needs to have the dialler integrated with it. This will provide a seamless experience. If these additions are not fulfilled, it will become just another messaging app with no real world use.
This app is completely useless..This doesn't do anything .... Between SMS and Hangouts, this doesn't have any purpose at all.. It's nearly impossible to get all my friends to jump on yet another messaging platform. You guys need to integrate Hangouts Instant messaging and SMS into this
This is an amazing app now. It was bad at first but now it has come a long way. Now you can share any file format, location, stickers, etc. With the Google assistant and smart replies I think that this is the perfect replacement for whatsapp. The upcoming desktop client is gonna make it better. The only disadvantage is the small userbase. Hope that it expands soon. Hence 4★
This would be an amazing app...I LOVE the UI...But no one will use it! No one will use an app that only has UI benefits. With all Android users getting Google Assistant and Apple users not caring about any of this at all, the only thing going for this app is the UI. Which, again, is great. But apparently not great enough for people to actually use it. If this is the "consumer-text" portion of the business plan, I don't see how it can possibly succeed without legitimate SMS support. Android Messages is great. Beef that app up to look and feel like Allo and then retire Allo completely. Otherwise we're getting half of each when we could have so much more. Please please please consider SMS for this app. I really do like it a lot. I just want it to be easy for other people. It's an app that only tech people are going to appreciate. Google needs to realize that the majority of their users are not as tech savvy as they think and don't care about this stuff. They just want something easy and accessible. Adding another app and taking up more storage on their phone for something .0002% of their friends use is NOT accessible.
still no SMS integration so need multiple apps for friends who have no need for this app (iPhone users). Should not download every multimedia message that is sent automatically to my phone. Still waiting for a unified app from Google to handle all my messaging. Apple and Facebook have done it
