This app is improved greatly over the years and I love the current state.
The app, by itself is a fail. I took my dog in a five mile hike. My fitness tracker on m my belt said we clocked at least a total of 11,000 steps. But Google Fit apparently could not figure out how many steps I had taken. I checked it once, it said 10,300 and I checked it a few minutes later and it said I had taken 9,767 steps. When we got home I checked it again and it said I had taken 10,764 steps. But two hours later it said I had only taken 9,698 steps. Suffice to say. The app is being removed from my phone. I'll stick to the apps I know work good.
Such a poor app, hard to believe it's from Google themselves. The miband app is superior in comparison... Which is saying something. Constant guessing I have jogged or cycled somewhere during car journeys. Duplication of step data within sync'd apps, no cal in Vs cal burn data. No ability to manually amend data. Poor widget option, no personalisation whatsoever, no social integration. Just lazy, utter clown shoes.
This app no longer seems to give accurate step data for walking. For a days activity it's a good 5km off. When linked with other apps for cycling like strava it's fine. I don't fully understand the problem as Google Maps tracks the same journey without problem
I use this app because it interfaces with the app from my insurance company. But I don't like how it counts steps. I also have Samsung Health and at the end of a day Fit can be missing 200 to 1000 steps that Health counted. Also, sometimes the number of steps goes DOWN! A few minutes ago I looked, and I was at 8763 steps. Just now I looked and it said 8722. How is that possible? I definitely don't trust this app.
The app used to be fully functional. However, over last few weeks, it has stopped logging running routes. Real time distances called out also differ from what the device logs at the end of the run, so I don't know how accurate times actually are. If this flaw can be fixed, would be a decent app again.
