Gesture Search lets you quickly access contacts, applications, settings, music and bookmarks on your Android device by drawing letters or numbers. It continuously refines search results as you add each gesture, and becomes better as it learns from your search history.

I. LOVE. THIS. APP. Tell me it's still being developed! It's my portal to absolutely everything on my phone -- apps, settings, contacts, browser bookmarks, my media. I don't need to know where anything is or remember where I put a shortcut. In usually two or three strokes I call up what I need. It's a lot like Quicklook on Mac - find and execute anything in about two seconds. I love this app, a best kept secret. It changed the way I use my phone. I've used it for years! It works really well (on MotoX at least).

Great - no need to define gestures upfront Most other apps of this kind require the user to define gestures for each app. The distinguishing feature of this app is that it recognises letters of the alphabet out of the box and so no user-defined gestures are needed. The only downside for me is that there is no list of recent/most used apps. The screen has space for this and it would save some time when launching the most frequently used apps.

Great app It's begging for more functionality and an update. Give this app features. There is a bug crashing when the phone is updating. Fantastic app that beats any other application in terms of searching for contacts quickly. If you could isolate into groups or add more features it could be an application and that cannot be mimicked on any other platform. Using with Nova Launcher and with one swipe of a finger you could launch it and have it ready to search.

Love it- but needs updates This is the best dialer app on any platform. You can't dial a random contact faster with any other app; no other dialer works so well for one finger either. However, the app continuously crashes in the background on my Nexus 6p. I think a little ui update would be nice for something that hasn't changed in years either.

Great App Just one suggestion. Can you add an option for users to set an priority on the content that is displayed in the search result. Like for me the result from contact list would be at least priority… but still I would need it to be displayed. But right now i have disabled them as they come over the apps result

Issue with Marshmallow??? I've noted over the past few days since my Galaxy S5 was upgraded to Marshmallow from Lollipop on Friday that even though I'm not actively using this app it is one of the top 4 in consuming my battery. On Sunday it was actually the biggest battery user and was 16% when Android OS and Android System were each about 9%. While I've used this application for years, and found it handy to locate contacts and media on my phone, I'll probably uninstall it due to the impact on battery life. Hopefully it gets fixed.

Very nice, very fast AND silent - much better than Voice Search! :D Some weird people seem to prefer talking to their phone in public instead of using the touch keyboard. This creates awkward situations - especially in silent rooms. Voice Search is a horrible invention in my opinion, but it has the advantage of not needing to hit tiny keys on a small keyboard to enter text. Gesture Search combines this advantage with lovely silence. ;)
User friendly interface for quick access What's with the orange-yellow icon ? The designer needs to be counseled. Reminds me of nachos with cheese sauce. Nauseating! Have to wash my hands each time i use it 😝. Otherwise a must-have App! 👍
Recent Update causes excessive Battery Drain? My battery is suddenly draining fast. Wakelock Detector is showing Gesture Search as THE major user by far. This has only started occurring in the last few days. Otherwise, this is a nifty app. I use it from the home screen to search for contacts.
Feature suggestion. Specific contacts. I disable all contacts because it returns too many results. It would be great to have a filter in the app to choose the people you call most often. Or perhaps the last 10 people in your call log. I know you can adjust it through phone settings but it's not something I find useful personally.
This app is awesome ***update*** i get an error message popup all the time on my new galaxy s7 saying unfortunately Google gesture has stopped. VERY annoying........ previous revue.....Still one of my favorite features of my phone. On my 3rd android in 3 years, and this is a must have app. Definitely makes iphone users jealous. Best and easiest way to find contacts and search your phone. One of best apps I have.
This is a great app but has not been updated since January of 2015. I installed on my nexus 6. It installs & works.... It runs in the background but while installed on Android marshmallow it kept crashing while running in the background. Time will tell if Google will update this app since they are pushing all search to Google now voice.
Great, but rough around the edges The app works great and always indexes exactly what I want, but it really doesn't look like a Google product. It looks dated, like it hasn't been updated since jellybean. It's minor, but it would be nice to see some upgraded, more Google-esque, visuals.
Used it for Years but I'm Uninstalling Used to love Gesture Search but can't stand the constant freezing and shutting down of the app. I believe it's a problem with Android 6.0.1 and notice Google hasn't updated the app since 2015. I'll reinstall once they update their app as it needs work!
Nice concept but implemented in wrong way. Why i should open an app to search ? Give this draw & search facility on android home screen with option to activate deactivate the same in settings ie. the way the nokia z launcher does (for drawing on screen only) Need clutter free screen, dont show the most recent results permanently on screen. Nexus 5 with Android M dev. preview.
Great to access one app fast when you have not given it a front-row seat on your homescreen. Though it seems to me a very recent (june 15) update turned it into a battery drain (I do have the flip detection disabled)
Best gesture I had used many gestures but all had to configured manually. It automatic configured all gesture u have just to install it and draw any thing it find that no need to draw v and then set v for video.solid kick to z launcher
Useful but crashes often on Nexus 6P I used this all the time on my old Galaxy S5, but it is always crashing on the 6P so I removed it. Would be great if this way of searching were more integrated into Android.
Doesn't even access evening Google Nice for what it indexes. What about gmail, google tasks, Dropbox? Another would be nice is everyone. I have this on my Windows computers, yet for some reason it is not done/allowed in cell phones. Very stupid.
Well-designed and beautifully implemented. A must-have app for those that need to find their stuff in a quick and practical manner. Another great Google app. **Update 3/10/16** Broken in Marshmallow if you edit sources to be searched. If you leave all defaults, it seems to work OK. But I don't wan to search my apps and other stuff - just people! If you set it this way, it breaks.
Not good..need to be worked on.. This is not working well it syncs only contacts..and does not recognise the gestures we write on screen.. It just senses the first letter for all things...so uninstalled..
Needs improvement There's no reason for this not to just work on the home screen like Nokia's Z launcher. What's up with the icon and color. Geez it looks like someone from 1998. Outside of that it works pretty good I'm happy with the way it functions.
What's with the data usage? I love this app, used it for years, but in the last week it's used 1.4 gigs of data. Why would it be using large amounts of data at all? No ads. Google already has all my contacts in a database somewhere... What's the deal?
What happen to Thai language This version is not working correctly with Thai language. When I draw a gesture, it always search only Thai vowel not consonant(consonant is more important) while the previous version is working correctly. Please fix this. Thank you.
Love it but crashes on 6.0 I have been using it for years because it makes finding contacts and apps so fast. I just got a Nexus phone and was disappointed that it keeps crashing. Honestly I think the functionality should be built into the Android OS.
It's good but not that good It may be useful but the app has to be opened to search which takes more time than to do it manually. If it was like without opening the app...it would been nice :|
Revolutionary This works so well I've taken most things off my home screen, dock and pull-down launchers. Why keep all that out when one tap and one handwritten letter will find anything? Also like that I can set it to search just the categories I want rather than having to sift through everything
Very fast. Searching apps, contacts became easy and faster. App should close down automatically after clicking on searched item, but it needs to be manually closed down and it also remains in memory even after its closing, which seems unnecessary consuming of memory & battery. Please solve this issue, other wise its a best app.
Works but doesn't shine. This works and gets they job done but need some more intelligence, also for the widget and auto refresh as needed. Shouldn't be hard for Google to fix. If they want to that is 😀
One of My Favorite Apps - Ruined This used to be one of my favorite apps. I had the widget on my home screens so I could search for apps. Starting with some update to Android in the 5.x line, I started noticing crashes when other apps either updated or were installed. I hoped that 6.0 would fix it, but no, still same issue. I even submitted the crash reports and there was no response. I'm guessing that Google never looks at those things. Sadly, all good things must come to an end. This seems to be the end for Gesture Search.
Limited and limiting Reminds me of Edlin. Pathetic! Get someone teach you the alphabet! Update: You have have the alphabet but ťhe app is still limiting. Very so.
Used to be great... Crashes on Android 6.0 after new apps are installed. Frequently screws up sorting of results (infrequently used apps appear at top of results at random).
Not all that flashy but does a job. I gesture, it searches my phone. I wouldn't mind an app that allows me to type with gestures, like Palm's Graffiti which is , unfortunately, dead. This draw-to-input idea could be integrated into Google now, just to show off.
Works but - sinfully ugly icon! Holy cow that orange solid icon is ugly ugly ugly. Can I please have my elegant transparent icon back, Google?
I'm using this app all the time - it seems to be great and to save me some time. But unfortunately, lately I receive a lot of "Unfortunately Gesture Search has stopped" messages (and other users, too, as I see). It seems, that it happens after every new app install or an old app update. And the problem started after updating to Android 6. Please, fix!
Like it What a great little app. Simple and effective. If like me you have hundreds of apps and contacts, and hate wading through folders or app organisers, this is an elegant quick way to get it!
This is practically my launcher Nova launcher allows me to have a double tap gesture on how screen to launch this app. And then it only takes another store to launch my regular apps. Maybe two letters for a new app. Glad Google got around to updating this app. If it's now much faster and I am digging the new icon. So do change the icons in app screenshot in play store as well.
So many parts of Android could use write-to-search I just wish this could run as a launcher or have an option for a persistent notification for quick access without waiting for an icon-packed launcher to load. Or maybe add a Find shortcut so when dragging up from the Home icon, an option for this app appears.
USED to do the job, but after 12 month it keeps constantly 'losing' numbers; oddly enough directly after you've just used it to find the same number - really annoying. If you can find something else, i suggest you do....was good, now cr*p
Used to work great, not anymore. I've used it for years and it was really handy. After the last couple updates it became crap at registering the second letter, freezing as I was drawing. Thought I'd try a reinstall and it wants me to accept terms of use. This is fine with me but it tells me to "Click accept below" but there's no Accept button showing up. Time to uninstall. Still using Android 2.3.6.
