I use a pixel5 and I don't have to download this application. But, a few days back the Google assistant downgraded itself. I don't see the transparent screen, the glowing LED anymore. It's like the older version with solid LED and black block screen!! I could not get it back to how it was. And the downgraded version is not capable of doing many things. So, one star!!

Suddenly, when I use the command, "Hey Google", I do not hear the response to my question (What time is it?) over the car's audio, however, I can hear the assistant's wake up tone over the audio and see the response on the phone's screen. I've tried adjusting the car, Bluetooth, and system volume controls along with eliminating the volume "limit". Music from YouTube plays fine and out of the vehicle everything works properly.

Over 3/4 of the time the assistant fails in some manner. The most recent trend is the problem where if I ask Google a second thing, without turning off the screen first, it will say 'thinking' forever. Keeping the app completely up to date doesn't help. This software worked beautifully when I first got this phone and was my favorite thing about it. It was powerful. In the past 4 months it has become so unreliable I can barely use it.
