Review from A Google User
Organization I love the app but it has absolutely no organization. The text messages look like a mess. It needs to start putting texts into continuous threads.
This is great for having a landline without paying a fee to your ISP or a phone company (You will need to order the Google talk box from Amazon). Nice knowing we have a phone anyone in the home can use for emergencies. The downside to having the number, is you will only get one voicemail box. Therefore, if you use the Google Voice for your mobile voicemail, it will share the same voicemail as your google voice number. It would be nice if Google would allow two voicemail boxes for this purpose. Regardless, this is a great tool for the post- landline era,
I was thrilled with the new update! The messages are nice and organized, you can give individual contacts distinctive notification sounds, and I love that I can now send and receive photos. The only three things I notice are there is no way to add a contact (the add button takes you to Search Contacts), video files sent to you are not supported, and the Google Voice widget was removed. Other than those draw-backs, I was excited to discover the new update!
Great service, great app. In general, my only complaint is that one can't set it as the default SMS app, which would be preferable since I usually don't use my device number except for 2-Factor Authentication, and it would be nice to have all my texts together in one place like Hangouts used to/Facebook Messenger & various other messaging apps can do.
Everything is great. Excellent app. I wish you didn't have to use hangouts dialer to call out on a device without cell phone service. And I don't know what happened to the return button. They replaced it with a smiley face. Other than that, calls are great even on slow wifi. Has a lot of versatility.
I've been using this since it was in beta in 2006/7 and have loved it. The things it didn't have such a group messaging and picture messages has been resolved. A great thing when you're in business or would just like a but if call control.
I've used Google voice for years with no issues until last October when my Motorola Turbo Maxx did a system upgrade. Now, my phone doesn't ring when callers call my Google voice number. I've adjusted all the settings, uninstalled, reinstalled, and even issued a report. I really need it to start ringing again. I'm having major issues with missing calls because it doesn't ring.
