ALERT DOESN'T WORK update - as of 1/247/2013 - updated one more time, and it's back to alerts not working again. this is a constant hit or miss it seems.... please get me back to the last update!!!! then i'll try to remember not to update any more. *sigh* update: updated since, and works flawlessly! great job! incredible2... it used to work fine until an update a few months ago, and since then i don't get any alerts when i receive a text or a voicemail. the only way to check is to open the app and then refresh it manually. dude, it's been months. pls fix?!?!!!
Needs some love I don't get notifications for anything (voicemail, text) in a timely fashion. Texts come through days later. I have background data enabled and all app permissions, but the only time I have gotten a text right away is if the app is open on my screen. Shouldn't have to have it open all the time to get notifications. Pretty sure this worked better on older phones.
Critical service I use. Been using my Google voice number as my main number since I have more than one phone (iPhone & Android) for 5 years. This service let's me get my calls whichever device I am carrying and even routes calls to Hangouts app on my desktop so I can take calls on my laptop. I understand this app operates in the background since hangouts is the new front facing interface but I certainly hope Google shows this application some much needed attention by updating it. Google please keep this critical service going.
I use Google voice for all my calls and text messaging. I have records of text messages from long ago across several phone providers and I have control of it all. I have several phone numbers that can all answer my GV line. It transcribes my messages and lets me know what the caller wanted without having to listen to every message. Its portable and convenient. If I leave my phone at home I just forward it to what ever is close. It keeps all of my contact information so I don't have to worry about contact
Google voice not integrated well It's huge as Google loves to make all there apps ridiculously large and not moveable to the SD card. I find it odd that Google doesn't take the time to make apps that are compatible with Android products. There is no block call list and even phone calls that are set to not go through do and they get sent to the phone vmail not google.
Very basic Shows transcriptions that are nearly impossible to understand, and corrections cannot be made from within the app. If you get a lot of hangups (short or zero content recordings) there is no way to mark read or delete in bulk...they have to be handled one by one. There have been no updates to the functionality of this app in well over a year (recent updates are just bug fixes), and at this point I would consider it pretty much abandonware. I expected better from Google...
Free unlimited texting (to some) radio station contest CONs: would give it ☆☆☆☆ 1/2 stars because most to the radio stations I've text to have replied with confirmations (iHeartRadio, WPST) yet there are some (CBS radio, WIOQ) which have no replies but they do on paid cell phone so I don't know what's going on. PROs: love how I could pick available vanity number, in this case a Hollywood area code with my name in it (xxx-xxx-CHIP)
