Lacks personalization options, overemphasizes fast route vs. mileage/fuel efficiency, won't learn from my driving choices. Often tries to take me miles out of my direct route to save a minute or two. Day after day, I ignore such guidance and drive a more direct route, but Google maps never adapts. Even my 5-year-old Toyota's in-dash GPS lets me pick from fast, short, and eco-friendly options. Why can't this app offer more customization? Also, sometimes there's no start button after I've set up a route. Finally, route doesn't resume when continuing trip after turning off phone.
Google Maps works great for me, I never have a problem with it. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is cause I'd like see you guys add a bookmarks or favorite places feature. I want to be able to write a friends name and have their address come up or save a place you found that's kinda off the grid and you want to remember it for future reference. EDIT: Boom, places and labels is a thing now. 5 stars!
Great update, but still, would you consider adding option for major road only which is used for cars, cause we've been re-routing to unpaved road for faster route which is not suitable for cars. Its need more features. Also often gps tracking lost and longer to back tracking again.
How do I get the screen to be behind the car icon instead of on top whenever a trip on the app starts. It used to be behind after you put the location in but now it starts on top and you cannot see clearly on whether to turn right or left to go forwards or backwards because it gives a picture of the map overhead, also how do you get it to the setting where it is on driving directions instead of walking directions whenever you first start a trip. You need to get this back to the way it used to be. Fix this.
What the hell is wrong with The Google maps. It has stopped functioning properly. The drive mode has gone back to stone age. The real-time navigation is not happening any more. And it has started since last update. Fix it guys. It'd really frustrating when you turn it on and it ass like it's is stuck or something.
The app does what it says and in my experience does it well. It is not the easiest or most intuitive app, so it needs some practice to be able to use it efficiently. One serious omission is your speed during navigation; other sat navs show your driving speed and warn you when you exceed the speed limit. This would be invaluable when driving, and interesting when cycling.
