I've been using Google Maps since smart phones came around. I've always loved it with few issues but lately it's been making drives very frustrating. There are almost no construction updates throughout spring/summer when there are roads blocked off long term almost everywhere. Also, I find the load speed to be slow when I have full service and 4G data running prime, and will almost be late or WILL be late in showing me my turns. I drive around Pittsburgh a lot and many of the highways and names are legitimally incorrect within the app which makes for quick navigation in busy traffic a nightmare and a pain to reroute so often. Please look into these things, Google.
I've used it daily in Sicily for 14 days lately, switching with waze. And ended using only Google maps for it's routing calculations, variety of different routes and easiness to find your destination without having to waist 3min like waze that requires some times the perfect spelling of your destination. Overall the only thing that misses in this application, is the possibility to announce traffic disruption or road closure that are often there due to natural disaster. Still hoping to get my speed indicated on this app, or at least indications of speed limits over passed. If only Google maps would include these features that waze has without the terrible waze route calculation, it would be the best app in the store
Wow maps has gone down the toilet. It very rarely actually takes me to the correct address. When using for navigation, it falls way behind. By the time it catches up to you, you realize that you have just missed your turn. My wife and I are on vacation now, and we have constantly missed our turns because the app is so slow. We are in Los Angeles, so signal is not a concern. This app used to be reliable. What happened?
This is the best navigation app available. But with that being said, it's not perfect. Directions aren't always the best (neither fastest nor shortest) possible and I regularly miss exists simply because alerts don't come regularly enough. Yea, it tells you when your 500ft away and again when you're 250ft away, but when there are two exists right next to each other, neither of which are labeled then you have to look at the app which is pretty dangerous when going 60+.
Love using Google Maps. However, in the recent months, it has intermittently messed up my commute due to some issues. Sometimes, even though my data and GPS signals are good, my position does not update on the map until I pan the map and sometimes, it shows that I am facing the opposite direction all of a sudden, disorienting me when I'm trying to get to a destination that I'm not familiar with. Also, photos that I posted together with my reviews frequently do not show up or only shows a few on the location's review page.
Booooooooo on the latest update. Banner ads pasted OVER the map following a search?! That's some hot baloney. What is this? 2002 JV Internet club? BOO Google. BOO. We all know you already get paid trainloads of money for Google local features, don't make this a thing. I'll drop Android for Apple in a hot second if this becomes the norm. Don't be evil.
