A good app in principal but helishly buggy. Why does it take so long to load photos or edit them? It also freezes more than it should. I know it's not my phone because Samsung's native 'Gallery' app does an excellent job and is speedy and responsive handling the same photos. There's definitely room for improvement.
5/10 Beautiful, simple and intuitive UI with lots of useful functions like action-triggering gestures (multiple selection, thumbnail size toggle, return to folder from viewer) instead of using buttons and menus. Serious drawback is app itself. Not able to delete pictures from SD card, forcing you to go to the file manager and delete it manually. App is terribly slow at loading device folders. Despite that, it's reliable and practical.
I wouldn't be able to keep up with downloading and organizing all my pictures if it weren't for Google Photos. I am also lucky I have the Google Pixel XL, it has free storage at it's original quality as long as I took the photo or video with one. Basically unlimited storage for me being I love my phone dearly. I highly recommend it to all my friends and now I'll do the same for you. A definitive must have app.
Mostly, it's great. But I can't draw on my photos. I take a lot of screenshots, circling something or adding an arrow should be an editing option. Google Keep lets me do it, but it's a pain to have to switch apps, draw, let it upload, then download when some apps only let you share what's on the device. Please add a drawing tool!
What the hell is wrong with this app, being provided by Google, it's the worst. The photos don't load... It takes time as if the photos are being loaded online... The photos are in my device and not at some cloud, dumb app. Hell with this app, it comes pre installed in the new devices, I don't want it but it can't be un-installed. Shame on you, Google Photos
1) Get rid of confirmation dialog when deleting a single photo when clicking delete button. Can always undo it. Choosing delete option from menu or confirmation with mass-delete makes sense. 2) Do not auto sign-in. I don't want photos from online albums to show up neither I like pics to show up as albums. Option to sign-in is good tho. 3) Allow projecting photos and viewing as slideshow via Miracast on my HDTV.
• Hide photos from your main photos view, like receipts, screenshots, and notes
• Archived photos are still visible in search, albums, and in the new Archive view
