I loved this app for its simplicity. Yeah, a few things could have been improved upon, but nothing app-breaking. Google are discontinuing this app and we're being forced to use YouTube Music, which is a clunky mess. It doesn't prioritize podcasts (which is why I use a podcast app in the first place), the playlists are not intuitive at all (as they're set up for music, not podcasts), and I can't import an RSS feed for bonus content I subscribe to. Time to find a non-Google podcast app.

I've been using Google podcasts for years as my go to podcast app. It's not perfect but it is pretty simple and has a clean easy interface and allow me to auto download my podcast episodes. I'm really pissed that Google has decided to can it in favor of merging it into YouTube music. That interface is very user unfriendly and I want my podcast in a separate app from my music stuff. I guess I will have to turn to another 3rd party app for podcasts.

I'm here to say that this is the best podcast app I've ever used. Adding an RSS feed is simple and easy, the interface and organization for new and older episodes is very well designed and thought out, and everything integrates seamlessly between devices. It's truly a shame they're forcing users to switch to something else to kill this app.

What's new

Google Podcasts now supports adding podcasts by RSS feed! Open the app and navigate to Activity, and then to the Subscriptions tab. Select the three dots in the top right corner and then "Add by RSS Feed." Once added, the podcast will appear along with your other subscribed shows, including at the top of the Home tab.
