Not shabby... but, Google is online so this shouldn't only be a mobile number type thing. If it were more versatile... Duo calls can be made to pc. This seems like a more solid option and they should stick with it. I know there are multiple Google communication services but this would also make for a great site plug in too. - Blu

A credible contender for Skype. Very simple to use. Links to your phone number so there is no account sign in. It shows which of your contracts have duo. Pick one and call. Handles connections over poor net conditions very well. One draw back is that registering requires that you can accept sms notifications. Makes setting up difficult if you are in a foreign country and don't want a hectic roaming bill. If you set up before you go then all is well. Connects over WiFi after that.

I'm generally happy with it but it has a major flaw. If you make a call on speaker phone the other person can hear their voice. For some reason the volume is a bit louder compared to other apps and I can't seem to be able to lower it further. If this gets fixed it will be great. Google account login would be nice too

A solution in search of a problem. Google Duo is Google's answer to Skype and IMO and as of now, it seems to work fine. I'm yet to fully test it out as none of my contacts seem to have it. If Google intends to succeed, I recommend having the app as a must have, preinstalled app on all Android phones and tablets right off the bat. Plus, an integration with Google Allo (which also requires preinstallation) would be appreciated.

Not much to say here, it is a basic video chat app with no text chat capabilities. But it is much smoother than other video chat apps. Simple to use and I like there knock knock feature where you see who is calling. Biggest complaint is that I wish that all the icons would all go away during a call and thus have a seamless video with the icons appearing only when touched as well as functionality on the web and on tablets would be nice.

With a good cell service or wifi, you're in the game. Though minor, there is a small issue I have. It's not realy even an issue as much as it is annoying. So if you have 2 devices with the app, using the same google account, you have to sign in whenever you go from one device to the other. If I use my phone then later use my ipad, or vice-versa, I'll need to verify my account with a pin number. I with it would just open and work.

I love Duo! No logging in with username and password... just go! Which was important in my case - my Darling Bride was in the hospital an hour away from me. I was able to Duo with her and video conference her and the doctors to get an update and prognosis. Saved a lot of time and effort! Highly recommended!

I am very impressed with this app. I use a crappy pair of head phones and the sound both going out and incoming is excellent. Never have been a fan of SKYPE and have followed it since it first hit the market in 2003. Sort of felt good when they recently got hacked. I think Skype is sort of like My Space where DUO IS sort of like Facebook - THE NEW THING.

Why Google could you have not made an all in one messaging app? Oh wait you did, But it was rubbish. Couldn't you have integrated this into hangouts, renamed and skinned it? Though the silver lining is my technophobic mum knows how's to use it! As much as I moan about it, it's simple and easy to use.

It's probably a good app for those who have only known what Android has to offer, but it's really disappointing if you've ever used Facetime. Google must have the brightest engineers on staff, so I'm really surprised as to how Duo doesn't compare to Facetime in terms of video/audio quality and lag. Experience-wise it seems as if Google is not even benchmarking Facetime when developing Duo. It compares with WhatsApp video call and maybe Skype in terms of video quality. Really hoping that Duo can give Facetime some real competition soon.

Great when it works. But its contact list is often out of sync with reality. Doesn't realise that users in contacts have duo. Even forgets users that it knew had duo before. Please fix this as it's often impossible to call people as a result.

Okay for those comparing it to facetime right off the bat. Are you all stupid? Have you used facetime when it originally came out on iOS. It took Apple years to perfect it. I'm not bashing on Duo because I understand it still has room to grow. One thing that this app has going for it. Is the cross platform uses between iOS and Android. Something facetime doesn't have. Just let Google do their thing for now.

Great quality, great sound. I wish it let u move the bubble with ur image/video around, ppl have the tendency to look at their image which makes ur eyes look closed to the other person. Then of course, add this to Allo already... Smh.

Overall having a good experience with Duo. Video can get blurry and laggy sometimes but 80 percent of the time it's perfect. I would love to see split-screen conference calling implemented in the future.

App and video calls have been working very well after recent updates.. even on cell data.. I only have one request, and that is to add toggle for phones with a front facing flash.. I was excited to try it with front flash but didn't have the option.. please add front flash setting

Super dope video quality, particularly over really crappy WiFi. I've stayed in hotels with atrocious WiFi and neither Skype, WhatsApp nor ZOOM can handle video. Whatever witchcraft Google uses for their video compression, major, major kudos because it's the only APP that handles video when others can't.

Video call Quality is not any better than any other application. Calls are not free they use your data plan or your Wi-Fi. It doesn't text message it opens up the built-in Android app even if that is not your default messaging app. Doesn't do SMS or MMS it's simply opens the built-in Android app even if it's not your default. It does however send annoying text messages to all your friends begging for them to install yet another application to do the exact same thing as other Google apps. It truly serves no purpose and there is absolutely no reason to switch from your current app to this.

After last update it's finally start working happy with this... Little voice breaks but at this as compared past was worst. Thnx for work on it... Try to update with vdo call also... Anyway thnx again... Keep it up.👍

It works great! The swipe to answer is a little tricky. You must do a long swipe to connect. Also the wuitting requires you touch the right spot on the screen. Once learned, all is well!

I am lost for words! Correct me if I am wrong, but Google have capitulated to the authorities and done a WhatsApp and made it essential to have a phone number to use Duo, not email, so the app is useless if one or both parties have no mobile signal and want to use WiFi, such as in an emergency. I just had this situation arrise. Am no fan of Apples closed ecosystem but at least Facetime works over WiFi with a choice of contact ID inc email.

Will give a 5-star if they can fix the horrendous echo when using hands-free. Works fine if both parties use earphones, but without it, feedback and echo seems a total nightmare. Hope this gets fixed soon.

Bravo Duo ! But the most important thing you have to do now is to integrate Duo in the Android system. And we will be able to launch a video call through the phone call windows. As FaceTime do. Think about it guys.

Not okay, sometimes fine for video calling, but often has problems with connectivity: problems with no solution. Still fine enough (broadly speaking) sometimes.

Major issue with contact list. It lists every single contact from your Google account contacts, device contacts & both sim contacts. This leads to duplicate & triplicate listing of contacts. ONLY list contacts that a user has currently chosen in the CONTACTS APP. Whatsapp does this. Should be common sense.

Super easy and doesn't take up a lot of space on your phone. Seamless call quality when both ppl have service and EXTREMELY SIMPLE. I love the size of the app the most. I was downloading Skype and it wouldn't fit on my phone then I remembered reading about this so I tried it and its been my go to every since.

Pre-installed and non-removable on my phone. Don't know anyone else who has it, so it serves no purpose for me. Does the world really need yet another video-calling app?

Horrible app, when trying to video message someone get this annoying sound coming through, so barely can hear the other person. Only way it works is one person puts it on mute you can actually use the app. Application needs bug testing n fixed. This app has no chance of surviving with these kind of bugs. Please fix!!!!

Bad connection. I sent messages from this app to my sister in same room but I reached my sister after 5 min. Although the network is perfect. At same time messages delivered immediately from Whatsapp.

I use this to video chat with my SO who has an iPhone. The picture quality is really great, and more importantly, it doesn't drop or need recalls every other call like Skype. Best cross-platform chat service I've used.

I like it better than apples face to.e because it works across Android and Apple. My wife has apple and I hate it. So we can video chat with no issues.

Cant set it up keeps telling me unable to send sms code and cant verify my number ! Did everything in the help section uninstalled and restarted my phone also did a force stop and still nothin f**kin bs !

Great app though I wish there was multiuser for video calling with more then one person. I like that it's all end to end encrypted. Possibly better alternative to calling regularly and having you phone provider keeping all your conversations. Quality of the video is great also, even with not so great internet.

The best video/voice calling app on android. This is the only one which I can use without interruptions in calls. The only thing I would like Google to improve is ability to change over video and voice mode during call.

Just an awesome app. This definitely the best voip app, specially in low ping and data rate. But, it have more delay than skype. After all love this app. Thank to google. Great video and audio callling app.

Wow gotten a lot better over the past few months... Wish my wife had Android instead of iPhone but this works great instead of FaceTime

It's been a pleasant experience with Duo lately. But it sometimes even fails to connect. My contacts don't even get miss call sometimes.

Best video calling app on the market by a long way in my opinion. Low data, RAM and battery usage compared to competitor offerings and some handy features like preview calling are a nice unique touch

So far I've been using this app and I really like it better then any other video chat app that I've used but time will tell it all. But so far I love it.
