The DVR is the best feature of this service. The DVR records flawlessly and is unlimited. If you're a sports fan the DVR will spoil the game by showing the final score. Scores should be eliminated from DVR recordings or at least hidden. They obviously need more channels such as NFL Network, cartoon Network and comedy Central to justify the price but it's definitely going in the right direction. At this point there simply isn't enough channels that I want to co time the service but I will be keeping my eyes on this.

Limited ad trap. If you're retro and enjoy commercials with your recorded shows, this is just the service for you. There are mostly golden oldies to pick from in TV and movies. But you will have to sit through the ads because they are short and frequent, and there is no fast forward through them. The Android app works well on a Google Pixel XL. The website does not work at all with Google chrome browser on a Mac.

Commercials blow! The buffered content fast forwards slowly when casting, no 15 second FF button on minimized controls, no lean back app for Nexus player. This is huge as by the end of the day my Note 5s battery has given all it had. You guys could do so much better than this!

Edit 04/30/2017: unsubscribed Edit 04/19/2017: Still no app for Shield TV or Apple TV. Reducing rating to 3 stars. Edit 04/05/2017: Everything works smooth and I'm really impressed with the tech. What's lacking are live channel previews, easy channel switching and a few channels that are important to me like diy, HGTV, cooking, justice central and CNN. So I'm still not sure if I should switch from DirecTV Now. Oh, and I also don't see the app available for my Shield TV or Apple TV - that was disappointing.

I think Youtube TV is revolutionary. No more cables. No more satellite dish. No more receivers. It's fantastic. I can record any show and it stays in my library for up to 6 months. I basically get the same channels Time Warner includes on their plan for a much cheaper price. The only channel I wish it did have was Cartoon Network because I want to see Rick and Morty. But I can always stream that online. This has all the channels I like. NBC Sports, USA, FX, FXX, Universal, local channels, etc. I'm very happy with Youtube TV.

Really enjoying this service & app. Will likely subscribe once some more channels are in (TNT, TBS, CNN). Casting is working really well. The Live TV UX could use to feel a bit more like a TV guide. Difficult to see what comes next in programming on a given day. Do really like that I can see how many ads are playing and how much longer

This would be a cool app but the commercials and ads ruin everything. It's not worth $35 right now due to glitches and ads. The interface looks good and the app itself is setup very nicely. I pay for YouTube Red and it's value is watching YouTube ad free. I can't go from watching movies on Netflix and HBO Go ad free to watching YouTube TV with nonstop ads. I'll enjoy the free trial and cancel and keep cable and my access to ESPN, TNT, HBO, and Fox Sports thru their apps.

Meh. Way too expensive for such a small selection of channels. I don't care about sports or 24 hr news. So there about 10 usable channels. Missing most major channels. Vod works great, but it's also very limited and there's no commercial free option. I would say the current service is worth about $10/month.

Good start. Best and most polished app of any TV service. Easy to use and find the content you want. While I think $35 is representative of the content included, they need a $40/45 option with more channels. The other issue is device support. Can't play on Nvidia Shield TV or Roku. While I know it supports Chromecast many people prefer a remote.

Granted this is only available in limited markets...It's amazing so far in Philly market. Streaming looks great on device and Chromecast works flawlessly. DVR works great. App automatically DVR your favorite sports teams and shows. Pretty impressive right out of the gates. Must have leaned from growing pains DirecTV Now and other went through. Need more channels though.

Occasional Chromecast disconnects, the apparent lack of an app for my Android TV, and the not-well-documented way it replaces done DVR content with on-demand are negatives. Slick interface, local sports and all NHL playoffs, family sharing and excellent fast streaming are positives. I really enjoy this app and service and am looking forward to future updates.

Omg the ads.. so many ads.. ads ads ads. Want the ability to only record new episodes please. On my satellite DVR, at least I can fast forward through the commercials. Needs Turner channels. Too many commercials, can't skip on my own recorded shows. Be able to listen in background like YouTube Red. Include YouTube Red and music in price. Need Roku support. Geeesh. Cancelled after 5 days.

Works decently enough. But at that price point I don't see this as a good deal. I can pay $25 for sling TV and get way more channels. Also, does anyone know how to cancel the subscription so I don't get charged? It's not listed under my subscriptions

Browsing through live channels and then picking something to watch reliably causes a hard-crash and system reboot of my Moto X Pure phone. I didnt even know apps could cause that to happen if they tried deliberately. The service itself is great - I like the content and the DVR function seems like the best out of all the competition. But I recommend using the iOS version instead until they get these stability issues figured out with the Android release.

The app is great but the service needs more work. There are no Viacom or Turner Networks so no CNN, TBS, TNT, Nick, Comedy Central, etc. Also, there are A LOT of ads on shows and movies that are saved already even when I have YouTube Red you still see YouTube/Google ads, I am not talking about commercial from the networks these are ads by YouTube that is not good. Then there is the quality, I compared the quality of the video stream with my satellite service and it is not as good which is disappointing. Other than ads, video quality and missing networks the app is fantastic but has a long way to go to be better than everyone else including PlayStation Vue which is probably the best out there.

I have a TV with a Chromecast built in that works just fine with literally every other app. And yet the GOOGLE app for the GOOGLE Chromecast on a GOOGLE pixel has issues? Was looking forward to this killing dependence on bs cable providers, but how does Google screw up out the gate like this?

I would love this but the volume is low on the shows so I turn the volume up on the TV then the commercials come on and blast the house. This is bullshit, if it isn't fixed I'm cancelling after the 30 days is up. Just reduced to one star. Know I get a commercial playing on my phone as soon as I open the app with no way of stopping it. Fing BS

The app and the web interface are really slick. This definitely puts the UI of both sling TV and PS Vue to shame. Navigating between saved content and live TV feels super intuitive. Still not sure if the service itself will be worth the $35 per month, but the app itself is definitely worth 5 stars.

I can't even stream anything without it stuttering so bad! The voice keeps going but the picture is out of place. Then the voice gets out of place. I have high speed internet so WTF is the problem? I would never pay $35 for this. Then I connected to the Google cast and it works perfect!? I don't get it?

There are still a few bugs ; however the application works as described. If you don't like ads you may not like this app as it forces you to watch ads and you are not able to skip them. Before you throw a fit , you can skip some ads just not the majority of them. Not sure I'll cut my cable as I can record an unlimited fashion all of the shows my family wants to see , and I can skip all the ads either manually or automatically.

Though the Android App is incompatible with my wife's Droid Turbo 2, we think the offeringa are good enough to "cut the cord". The app itself is great and easy to use. Once YouTube works out the incompatibility issues, I will upgrade this review to five stars.

The app is amazing compared to the competition. I am very impressed. I am a DirecTV Now member and for this being the initial release I can't wait to see what's to come. Yes the channel lineup needs work. That's to be expected it's the initial release. I'm curious to know if YouTube Red members will receive some sort of discount. My biggest criticism is the lack of device support. I need a Fire TV app and why wouldn't my Samsung Tab A be supported!? My guess would be the app is not yet ready for a larger range of device. To be fair I can understand, with the app being so advanced with sneak peeks of what's on while you scroll through the live channels. Give Google's YouTube TV developers some time and I'm sure it will blow the socks off the competition. I also love that it intergates with your family group! One click and my entire family group was added and now has access. Great job there YouTube.

It works well enough that I cut the Verizon TV cable. I don't like having to get out the phone to control the TV. In cutting the cord I dropped many channels that i never watched and am saving about $30/month. I bought the Google Home appliance which controls "regular" YouTube and Netflix but not Youtube TV. I chatted with tech support but, of course, they can't confirm or deny the existence of any upcoming apps. But changing channels by just talking would be very cool... so far so good.

Does not work on Vizio M Series and the app is not compatible with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. The 24/7 customer service response was to send a canned response on this issue that did not address the problems. They then responded with the same exact email when I replied that the first email did not address either issue.

I'm just waiting for this to be available everywhere before I go whole hog, but once it does, that's goodbye to Hulu for me personally. Too much overlap in recorded content, but the live TV is what got me, keeping in mind I have a solid internet connection, so I admit I might just be getting lucky on the live TV performance. Either way, I'm surprised at how easy it was to get right to what I wanted and, frankly, expected out of the web app.

App has promise, but also is rather glitchy. When playing content off Google Pixel, the app loses communication with the TV when casting and the TV freezes until a connection is reestablished. On the topic of TVs, I'm having a hard time reconciling that my 2015 Android TV is not compatible with this app. It should be available in the TV's Google Play store, and should be seamlessly integrated into the TV's interface.

Didn't get it Yet.. After seeing All these comments about Adds and All, seems like there's Just way too many interruptions..I hate that when I'm watching shows,so that Sux for sure.. And for the price of 35.00 ??? Why so many commercials? I don't think it's worth it truthfully.. humm.. Maybe If it changes for the better down the road I'll give it a shot.until Then, don't think I'm even gonna check it out.. Sorry..

The app is smooth and all that but still needs work. Often can't talk to my Chromecast while the Home app has no issues. The channel selection is the best part. To get these sports channels you are easily paying double with cable. Not to mention you have to have 10 different apps on your phone and login with your cable login. This you only need one app.

Good 1st effort but the navigation is horrid and it (or the backend service) gets funky on occasion. But a good start. However....that lack of Android TV or Nvidia Shield support is a crazy issue. Enough of a missing feature that it will make me quit paying for this service if it isn't enabled very soon. Massive shortcoming and hard to comprehend why I need to use my phone to cast the streams to my various Android TV devices.

Edit (again) - Knocked it down another star (AGAIN) for yet another week without support for any mainstream android tablets. Overall my only major complaint is a lack of sufficient device support. I expect this offering to continue to improve over time. More channels would be nice, but it's the device support that's going to make me cancel this.

YouTube TV is really really good. Exactly what I'm looking for. No contract basic cable service, $35 is right what I'm willing to pay. The hang-up for internet TV has been sports, problem solved. I can live stream CNN anyway, rest of basic channels will come in time. This allows the Internet and TV to merge and become one. We are actually living in the future people. PS. Needs a TV guide.

I think this is an awesome idea!! I think google can make it work. However need to work with screen sharing. It seemed to work but was very choppy. Also need a roku app. If these 2 things were added and fixed I would get this service. I will continue to check this apps progress. Hoping for great things!!!! Edit 05/15/17 works better with chrome cast!!! Won't be long this and sling and dish will be gone!!

While I'm all for the cable cutting..This concept is nuts. You want 35$ for ad-frenzied TV service while a user like me pays for YouTube Red specifically to get rid of the ads, so I would be paying for that, and then trying to watch TV on YouTube with tons of ads, for an extra fee? Yeah, no thanks. There are way better services out there that aren't advertisement wastelands.
