It works for me
Gmail started asking for intrusive permissions on my tablet today through Google Play Services (11.21.17). Forums say this has been a problem for more than a year. Too bad, because I loved this app.
It's really disappointing that I need to regularly open the app to see if I have any new emails, because the push service doesn't work great at all. All synchronization options are well set. It just don't work as it supposed to be.
One of the Google app updates knocked out my Bluetooth permissions. It'll connect, but now no audio comes through. It's either this app or inbox. Google apps suck up all the permissions without user permission and deny permissions to stuff we want. Please figure out which one of the Google apps is conflicting with Bluetooth and fix it.
Exchange compatibility broken as of 11/14/17. Everything in my inbox for my work email suddenly disappeared and I couldn't receive any emails for days. I finally figured out that everything from the inbox was now in the drafts folder. I decided to wait a while to see if there was a fix. A new version came out yesterday and it's still not working correctly. Let me know if I can provide logs or anything to help fix it.
On my OP3T, emails are not automatically pushed to my Gmail, as such, I don't get notifications either. I have to manually refresh to see new emails. Still can't edit, delete or create labels in Gmail app, but you can in Keep. Need to be able to do more in the Gmail app and not have to rely on the desktop version so much.
Every new update is making the app worst. Slower, buggier. It used to be a good app, but now it feels clunky to the point that even the keyboard gets considerably slow to type simple e-mails. In addition to that, why is not possible to disable "conversation mode". It is not useful and has a tendency to mix up messages. All in all ypu may want to look around for a better way to access your gmail.
