Android Auto now works with any car! You can connect your phone to a compatible car display, or put your phone in a dock and use Android Auto directly from your phone screen. With a simplified interface, large buttons, and powerful voice actions, Android Auto is designed to make it easier to use apps from your phone while you’re on the road. Navigate with Google Maps, listen to playlists or podcasts from your favorite apps, send messages via voice, and more.
To use Android Auto, you’ll need a phone running Android 5.0 or higher (Lollipop, Marshmallow or Nougat) and an active data connection. You may also need to update some of your existing apps, such as Google Maps, Google Play Music, or Google Search.
To find out if your car display supports Android Auto and how to enable it, check your owner’s manual or contact your car’s manufacturer. Once enabled, connect your phone with a high quality USB cable to your car to launch Android Auto.

Good experience operating through 2013 Bluetooth equipped Subaru using a LG V10. Voice control of navigation and voice guidance are both accurate enough to be useful. I wish the annunciation voice could be tuned to better level match other audio material it interrupts. As I'm using it often produces excessive volume. Better than not hearing voice guidance, but it's generally poorly matched to other audio.

Great experience. So far, no complaints. Works brilliantly with my Kia. I would like to see better 3rd party messaging support, at the moment it can read me my whatsapp messages but can't reply to them. Deducted a star because recently it's been rejecting more phrases that used to accept. Also it's become more verbose which is bad while driving. Succinct responses better.

It's mostly great. A couple of minor things would make it perfect. Waze support has been promised for a long time. It would be nice to have video playback when the car is in park, though I get the issue there. Mostly, just making it less buggy would be great. Also, customizable backgrounds or screen savers would be good. Still, it makes my Kia even better.

The limited scrolling is the worst. Why can't my passenger scroll for me ? A search would be great too in the songs list. Also, you can't search for contacts. You can use the voice recognition but it is not the greatest, specially when you are not a native speaker. Limited amount of app. It would be great to allow youtube but as audio only. And have video capable when not driving.

TL;DR; good, could be better. Significantly better than Apple's. Still rough around the edges tho. Voice s earch works 80% of the time, which for a search company isn't good enough. Not being able to choose your nav app is disappointing after being promised Waze for two years. No 'avoid tolls' persistent setting is AAF. Recent places kinda works, it would be nice to have a save address button. Music selection works ok, if you aren't blocked by the safety 👮.

So far an ok experience. The scroll limiter is incredibly annoying, why the hell can't my passenger browse unrestricted? Maybe a warning with an option to bypass??? Maps is what you'd expect, excellent. Overall some great features. Would like to see ability to launch certain apps like Tom Tom Speed Camera etc.

Hi Nick. Thanks for suggesting new apps for Android Auto support. We are looking into expanding Android Auto ecosystem, we’d like to learn more how we can improve the Android Auto experience for you. When you have a moment, tell us more: https://goo.gl/Xv75A3. You can see what apps are currently available here: https://goo.gl/PKxA3q. Still experiencing some lag when going between music and GPS on occasion. Wish the GPS had a little more options to choose routes and see the route details like on the app. Should be able to do this when parked. Waze needs to be integrated already. We have all waited long enough. Definitely has improved from when i first got my pioneer head unit, but there is still room for much needed improvement. Keep it up!
Rough with limited support. Very unstable, will disconnect while just playing music. Navigation and music is impossible for extended periods as will cause Android Auto to error and stop working. Will need to pull over, kill Android Auto, restart it and then connect to the car again. This whole setup procedure is often too involved for a simple trip and I won't use it. Limited support for third apps, no Waze, no Uber Driver.
Even though it doesn't always work functionality wise, Android auto is a fantastic leap from the past in the world of in car connectivity. As a car tech I can leave knowing that a client will be pleased with their hands free connectivity.. I would like to be able to say change the color profile or the background photo but those are small wants that would just further the excellence that is this product
Although a pretty good start, this app still needs work. The voice prompts are overly verbose. The map interface could be better and include showing the compass all the time, and also the speed limit. I just think Google needs to put more effort into updating this app instead of letting it be "good enough".

Hi Mitch. Thanks for your feedback. We’d like to understand better how we can improve the experience for you. Please tell us more in our user community: https://goo.gl/nsrw8W. I would not buy a car that didn't have Android Auto, can't go back. The navigation tops what is offered in my car because of the Google Assistant integration. It knows where I'm going before I even ask. Use of Google music, Audible, and Pocket Cast of pretty good. It might be nice to have touch screen access to my full music library, but voice controls work pretty seamlessly. Hurry up with Waze access and continue to refine graphics would be my only request.
It's a little buggy at times but since getting my new Samsung S8 it seems to work better and load faster. Lately, I've been having some issues using Spotify, but other than that i really like android auto and it was one of the reasons I bought my civic. I've used apple car play and think android auto is superior between the two. My only wish... I would like to customize the background images. Also... patiently waiting for Waze to be supported.
Works great until you start navigating or playing music with Spotify. Then OK Google just ignores you and you can't ask it anything. When you get a whatsapp message you have to press 'Play Message' on the screen, handy when you are doing 70mph down a road. Improve these, i will give it the other 2 stars
I love the android auto app for the map and spotify. I really really appreciate the google map and I can't wait til Waze comes out. Here's what I dont let. 1 Your phone gets locked when you use it. So alot of times I would like my girlfriend to reply to my texts that I receive when I am travelling but she can't don't that because the phone is locked. You also canot modify anything on google map if it's already projected. I wish I could program it in my phone even if it's plugged. a nice feature would be to unlock your phone when you are in park, most of the times I need to check my phone for information on the destination but I can't do that since the phone is locked.
Not too bad. Would be more useful if when it searched for music it also searched my 128GB USB that's plugged in instead of just the streaming services. Also would be better with a selectable background for the default screen, or at least a rotating one. The default gets old quick. One of the places where tiles would work better too. Lot of wasted screen space that requires scrolling.
This is phenomenally better than any in-built car navigation or other software. Being able to use Google maps and Spotify with a proper interface has been great. I do have a few gripes though. Development is very slow, meaning new apps for Android Auto still have yet to be released. Apps like Waze other music apps. Also, there was a showcase of Android Auto being able to show car statistics, which can be demoed in the developer settings, but that also has yet to be functional. Lastly, sometimes Android Auto just does that work. Overall, I still love it.
Android Auto and Ford Sync 3 together is not a seamless integration. Flipping back and forth between features is cumbersome. I have not figured out how to SMS or Hangouts message someone through Android Auto so I have go back to Sync 3. Android Auto seems a little buggy occasionally. Maps and navigation are awesome. Amazon Music and other music apps are good but "Browsing" through many playlists is restricted which is nonsense. In short, I am happy I have it but wish it was better.
I love the interface. It's easy to use maps and listen to almost anything. The latest phone or app update has competed stopped spotify from working so I've switched mainly to audible or my podcast player. It would be nice to have spotify connected again, sometimes I just want to jam out to a certain song.
Android Auto is very convenient, but it still has room for improvement. The number of available/usable apps is limited; access to notifications is very limited, especially ones that are already displayed on the phone before connecting it to the car; and the music player functionality is underwhelming. I don't understand why you get such limited access to your library, nor have the ability to create playlists directly from the android auto interface. If safety is concerned, just limit the functionality to when the car is in park or stopped, like other functions. There's also the issue that the interface is somewhat sluggish compared to the default phone interface. Overall, the app is useful and more streamlined, but could be more responsive and less limited in functionality.
It's good, I like the card interface which always seems to know where I want to go. So much better than the car makers attempts. Only 4 stars because more app support would be great. BBC iplayer radio - I'm looking at you!
I'm using this with my Galaxy S8 in a Civic 2017 and find it reaally annoying that my phone is not usable/accessible because it's stuck on a black screen that says "android auto." This is my first time using it so perhaps it's normal and prevents phone usage while driving but it's so inconvenient I end up just closing out and using Bluetooth instead. I was also really hoping Waze would work on it!!

Hi Serah. Thanks for your feedback. We’d like to understand better how we can improve the experience for you. Please tell us more in our user community: https://goo.gl/nsrw8W. It's pretty useful. I just don't like how hard it is to use your phone when this app is installed. When I'm the passenger but using my phone for navigation, I still want to be able to easily use my phone. Even when I don't plug in, the app forces my Bluetooth to stay on and connect to the car. It's SO annoying. I'd give it a 3.5, but that's not possible, so I rounded it up to a 4.
Works great in my 2017 Chevy Spark. Can't live without it now. This easily makes my car x10 cooler than any without the option. I hope this app never gets discontinued. One suggestion though, it would be amazing if you select who you want to hear the latest message from a specific contact, using the voice system.
Okay app. Has issues working with Google play music. It'll say "Google Play Music doesn't seem to be working right now" and you can't control the music from the app or the dashboard. Also seems to have issues with the GPS. Sometimes the GPS isn't found, or the map won't be facing the right way. If this is fixed, it would be a great app. Would recommend.
Works great. I wish it would understand all of the Google voice commands. Also, the phone button on my steering wheel should work to answer calls. It would also be nice to leave my phone alone so that, while parked, I can access the internet and such through my phone without disconnecting my Android auto from my vehicle.

Hi Mike. Thanks for your feedback. We’d like to understand better how we can improve the experience for you. Please tell us more in our user community: https://goo.gl/nsrw8W. Extremely buggy. Been using it with an aftermarket head unit for 3 months, and the weather card no longer works. With a recent update, Google Play Music stops working, requiring rebooting the phone each time. It seems like every time a new version comes out, something else gets broken. Very disappointing.
Make sure you're not in a car the first time you use this. Asking for directions is interpreted as a request to call people on your call list. No is heard as, Yes, Please. And no matter how loudly you shout, No cancel, and stop are not valid commands to a call in progress. You'll have to take both hands off of the wheel to power down. But the UI is smashing. Except at night, when it's positively brilliant.
Great start, but needs work to catch up with other car apps. I'd like to be able to customize the home screen. It also doesn't seem to predict my destinations as well as the Driving Mode used to in Maps, which seems odd. Looking forward to more mature versions.

Hi Bruce. Thanks for your feedback. We’d like to understand better how we can improve the experience for you. Please tell us more in our user community: https://goo.gl/nsrw8W. When it works flawlessly, about 25-50%of the time it's bad ass. Google does everything and you just say ok Google. I know, this might sound like a commercial but I'm a real dude that's wife hates on the phone so I got this. Nope they don't pay me either although I do like money if want to give me some. Nice job. 6 stars even at 50% perfect. That's a good product.
I use it for Google maps navigation it's nice to project to the cars factory screen when navigating but the screen on my car, 2017 Acadia, doesn't seem to display as my tablet or phone. Graphics are reduced or eliminated that's why I gave it three stars. Once linked up can't do much with my phone at all but I'm still learning this app. and figuring how it works with my devices. 3 stars might not be fair to the app but I don't know who is responsible for the reduced graphics. Another issue is mine has to be connected with a usb cable which on my lg V20 doesn't stay connected very good so I have to use a rubber band to keep connection secure plus the fact that you have disconnect it and reconnect it when you get in and out of the vehicle. It is a good idea, now I don't have to use a tablet for Google maps in the car which is convenient. I think if they could link my phone and car radio through a WiFi connection a cable wouldn't be needed.
Really great upgrade from stock systems in cars. Voice recognition is excellent. Can't can't via Bluetooth though, which seems crazy. And showing the speed limit of the road you're on would be good, just as stock systems all do these days. Otherwise great.
I like the app for what it can do, but sometimes the directions don't update when I'm using the maps app. This can be very frustrating when you don't know where you're supposed to be going and miss a turn or exit ramp. Also, will the app ever support the Sirius/XM app? Spotify seems to be hit or miss. Sometimes it plays with sound, sometimes without, or I get an error message about no internet connection. When this happens I try a different app, such as Pandora, and it works fine.
Simple interface, some of the apps that connect to it still need some ironing out. Google Music still need a better way to interact with it. "Ok Google" also isn't 100% user friendly yet. Dare I say the messaging application needs to have an interface, great that Google will read them back unless the notification from the main screen has disappeared.
What it does, it does it well. I I'm sure things will improve as more apps behind available. I would like to see a media player that supports shoutcast/pls streams and a stand alone mp3 player would also be nice. Of course, these things may exist and I just haven't discovered them yet.
Nice to have options!! Pandora, Amazon, watch movies, great! Would be 5 stars but the connection from the phone to the unit works half the time. I find myself having to plug and unplug the micro HDMI several times before it gets going. Once it's on, it's awesome
I'm using the S8+, Android Auto works pretty well in my 2017 Civic, but sometimes will disconnect and reconnect randomly. I am using the original cord, so I don't understand what the issue is. It works perfectly on my husband's LG K10, though. Never an interruption. Maybe this needs an update???
This is great! Car manufacturers have been slow to implement technology's like this on older cars, if they do at all. Now, with Android Auto and a phone with a good sized display you get a great in car navigation system with buttons and a layout optimized to use at a glance. It also hides most notifications so you get less distractions while driving. It's basically good for music, navigation, and calling but that's really all I need it for.
I love Android Auto, without a doubt the voice activation and hands-free features make this the single most useful thing in my vehicle. I have an older truck, so adding a newer radio that had Android auto built in wasn't possible, but with some tweaking and bluetooth, I've got great synergy between the car stereo and Android Auto on my phone. I would really love to see a Distro of Android available, tweaked around Android Auto, for purpose built CPCs or even entertaining the maker community with a ready out-of-the-box Distro for Raspberry Pi 3 or Hardkernels UDROID platform. AA is almost the perfect playground for makers in a lot of way, but my tinkering fell short due to poor support and people who've tried to literally design something from the ground up. Either way, this is a great app, and super useful every single day!
Awesome experience on the car console screen on the road. Sometimes okay google voice recognition isn't perfect. It has trouble hearing if any window is open or sometimes if music is playing. I really really really wish Uber Driver and Lyft Driver apps could somehow be used on Android Auto. Otherwise overall it's amazing and definitely worth having. It's a far nicer UI than any OEM Link firmware.
Android Auto has come on leaps and bounds over the last year and is generally very smooth and reliable. However, OK Google commands are not always recognised which sometimes defeats the object of the app in the first place as you have to navigate using the screen. Other than this, an impressively polished piece of work 👍👍
