About this app

SafetyCore is a Google system service for Android 9+ devices. It provides the underlying technology for features like the upcoming Sensitive Content Warnings feature in Google Messages that helps users protect themselves when receiving potentially unwanted content. While SafetyCore started rolling out last year, the Sensitive Content Warnings feature in Google Messages is a separate, optional feature and will begin its gradual rollout in 2025. The processing for the Sensitive Content Warnings feature is done on-device and all of the images or specific results and warnings are private to the user.

App installed without my permission, and without notifying me. This was not installed as part of an android update. Spyware and Malware. Has used a connection to the Internet for something, but I wasn't able to look at the traffic. It's supposed to do some auto-magic censorship stuff by scanning incoming images. The shop page is hard to get to, and provides no information on what the app does. Please be transparent about all app functionality.

Phone started locking up and slowing down recently. This phone is only a few months old and was working flawlessly until recently. Apps don't load or load very slowly, pictures don't show up on news feeds. Wish I would have had an option to not have it installed. Heard it is reinstalled in background after deletion. Don't trust an app that is secretly installed that scans your complete phone contents.

My phone is 6 years old and had been getting slow recently, things like maps and internet browser borderline unusable. Was worried that it was getting to be time to move on from my beloved Note 10. But NOPE, turns out that Google quietly installed this and it was using 25% (!!!!) of my phone's RAM. Uninstalled and my phone magically works perfectly fine again.
