Can't believe how crappy it is Track pad mimics d pad intead of being a real track pad. Keyboard removes the last word you keyed after pressing space. No move forward/backward functionality. I'd give it 0 stars if I could.
Why bad reviews? It is a remote app and does what it says perfectly, if you want amazing features use the normal remote or controller, Great work as always Google Inc. :D
I find the lack of functionality in this app unacceptable. D-Pad works as described, play/pause is fine, but the "trackpad" mode is a joke. It basically just mimics the D-Pad but instead of pressing a button, you swipe. The trackpad should function more like an actual trackpad... finer mouse control. Given the fact that you can install apps like Google Chrome onto your android tv, the remote app should, at the very least, support some sort of mouse control for use within apps that require touch input. Also, the text input sucks. There is no clear all button and if you click the "I'm done with this field" button (which moves you to the next input field), and then start typing, it will populate the newly selected field with all the text that is already typed out on your phone (from the previous field). Sloppy programming and clearly unused by the developers themselves or the product wouldn't be such a joke.
Expected a lot more from Google Frequently loses connection with my Nexus player. I try troubleshooting and it still losses connection. Home button is too close to my phone home button so i always end up exiting out of whatever I'm watching on TV as soon as i try to close the app. Often times can't find my device at all. I have multiple Nexus players in my house and sometimes will connect to the wrong one and mess with what someone is watching in the other room. D-pad is just awful.
A bit of an embarrassment Google should force their employees to use Google product at home. The connection to both my Sony Android TV and my Nexus Player is incredibly inconsistent. Nexus Player needs restarting to work always. Sometimes when trying to connect to my Nexus Player I'll walk downstairs and see my Sony has turned on. Test these apps in the real world, guys.
Works great... Using Sony Xperia phone to control nvidia shield. Works perfectly. Paired instantly. Hasn't crashed. nice and simple to use very responsive. Don't listen to idiots complaining about the touch pad option it is brilliant as it allows you to use the control without looking at phone.
