Pretty rudimentary It does it's job well in acting as an additional remote on your main device and on Wear, but it's just too basic. The thing I'm missing the most is actual touchpad emulation with a mouse cursor. Beyond that, the app could tie in better into the controlled device by using it as an info HUD or second screen of some sorts (of course that would require new feature implementations to Android TV itself). Good, but not as good as it could.
Is Android TV dying Android TV is really lacking at this point. Universal search is crap. If you're a comcast subscriber, HBOGO, FX, and several other apps won't work (works with fire TV, and Apple TV though) . The remote app's functionality is basic. And the voice functionality is a joke when compared to Apple TV. All in all, pretty disappointed. Theres potential, but it seems like Android TV is slowly becoming another Google TV or Nexus Q
Very basic I'm using this app to control an nvidia shild device. I would love to see an volume control, applications launcher, extended information. This app looks that was made in a lunch break. Can't believe that is made by google. Like someone lost a bet and was forced to make this crap. Google devs, stop playing xbox and improve this app!
Clunky TouchPad use is nice...but damn it hurts how clunky this app is. Music control is terrible without being in view of the TV even though it's controlled by the phone. NBC sports is not available which is likely chalked up to contract negotiations. Please for the sake of civility upgrade the phone interface and app compatibility.
A bit of an embarrassment Google should force their employees to use Google product at home. The connection to both my Sony Android TV and my Nexus Player is incredibly inconsistent. Nexus Player needs restarting to work always. Sometimes when trying to connect to my Nexus Player I'll walk downstairs and see my Sony has turned on. Test these apps in the real world, guys.
My primary purpose with this app is to use it as a keyboard input to my Android TV when I need to type something in, as I am instructed to do by the TV itself. The problem is, the keyboard on this app doesn't work with the TV - in fact, it nearly locks up my phone when trying to use it. I've tried it on a Nexus 6, 6P, and a Sony Xperia Z3 - none can get anything done. This app feels half-baked at absolute best and is very disappointing coming from Google.
