Description
The Mindfulness Bell rings periodically during the day, to give you the opportunity to hold on for a moment and consider what you are currently doing, and in what state of mind you are while you are doing it. According to the Zen Buddhist teacher Thich Nhat Hanh, this is an effective means of developing mindfulness.
If you wonder where the "menu button" is: it is the three little dots in the corner of the screen, next to the "back", "home" and "switch apps" button.

Perfect, simple, elegant. I have been using this app for two or more years. It comes with exactly the right amount of controls. Enough to set it up to suit your needs but without bells and whistles that complicate and confuse.

Good but. .. Good sound quality, good settings but...1. - when i set the bell to remind me every 5 minutes, it work just randomly and sometimes doesn't ring even after 30 minutes... Same happened with 10 or 15 minutes. Can this be fixed to ring between 3-7 minutes, not 10 minutes or more? 2. - Missing half sound Bell, few seconds before main sound Bell. 3. - sometimes it just "forget" to ring more than half hour. 4. - When sound is muted, and phone set to vibrate, bell doesn't vibrate at all. Can this be fixed? Thanks.

It still chimes during media playback, even using the phone's default music player. And I presume the same happens during skype / google voice / etc calls, youtube playback, etc? It'd be far better if it didn't stomp over other audio output.

Errors It works but every time the bell rings in recurring mode it shows an error message that says 'mindfulness bell has stopped working'. If i ignore that message the bell still works so its not a problem if i'm not using the phone. But if i am using the phone that message pops up and interrupts what i'm doing until i dismiss it. It doesn't give the error when i ring the bell manually, just when it is set to recur.

Minor Glitch This is a great app. It is a wonderful addition to my phone. There is one glitch I wish was fixed. I can't see a setting to keep the bell from ringing when media is playing. It allows me to silence it during calls. I wish I could silence it when listening to my Audiobooks and music. Oh well.
Wonderful - A true Gift that this app is FREE It is difficult to find a tone that is perfect for relaxing the mind - the tone of the singing bowl in this app is just right. Not too high and not too low. When I hear it chime, I follow the sounds as it fades away slowly and focus on my breathing. In and out, only my breath - and allow myself to relax. I set it to ring every half hour and I've had SO MANY people ask about it, which is a great way to explain the benefits of mindfulness to others and share the wealth. : ) The simplicity of this app is what makes it the #1 app of its kind. It exists to promote mindfulness and doesn't try to do 100 other things. Just a wonderful app!!

Noisy bell sample The bell sound is beautifull, but plays it with a lot of noise (remembers me of old 8-bit Amiga samples)

Helpful app Great when you're working on a project and keep forgetting to take breaks. Or just going through your busy day, forgetting that the rest of life exists. Good reminder to slow it down and notice the world around you. I wish it could do 45 minutes though. Or even 30. But a good, mellow sound and worthwhile app.
Absolutely Wonderful! Such a simple app, but well worth the download. I set mine to every hour and when it chimes I stop what I'm doing and become mindful of myself and the moment. Using for Years I realized I had an anger issue and decided that using this bell would be a good way of helping. (One of many, I'm not saying this is a cure if you have an anger issue to contend with.) I had it set to go off about every hour, and each time it would chime, I would visibly relax. Loving that it now silences with the phone being silent, too! My friends/family enjoy it being on around them as well as they say they relax instantly, too! :) Not bad, much calmer, much happier, STILL using after a few years and anger is quenched!
It really helps me keep perspective In these economIc tImes it's easy to thinks of all the bad things happening in our lives . I maded a list of good things in my life. When the bell tones i would read the list of things to be grateful for Now i know the list by heart so i just repeat them when bell rings i find myself finding more and more things to be grateful for. What's New
Many people have asked for this, so here it is: Two options how to use your bell in a quiet environment, such as at work.
(a) There is now a "Vibrate" option. This does a short-long vibrate pattern -- if you wish, you can interpret this as the morse code for "A", as an abbreviation for "be awake".
(b) It is now possible to turn the volume *real* soft. The bell now supports a dynamic range of 50dB, from the maximum volume to a just audible volume. This should never be too loud.

By setting reminders at times and days of your choice you can get a message when it’s time to meditate
You can choose if you want to sit for a shorter or longer period

Mindfulness handlar om att vara i kontakt med det som pågår i och omkring oss. Om vi inte är i kontakt går vi miste om stora delar av våra liv, som vi ofta lever ”i huvudet”. Detta kan leda till oro, grubbleri eller ältande.
När vi istället är i kontakt får vi möjlighet att uppleva det vackra, positiva och njutningsbara. Men att vara i kontakt innebär också att vara närvarande med det svåra i livet; smärta, sorg, rädsla och ilska i oss eller omkring oss.
Med mindfulnessträning lär man sig förhålla sig till det som är. Man kan vara närvarande i det positiva som pågår i livet. Det ger kraft och energi. Men mindfulness innebär också att vara i kontakt med svårigheter och lidande utan att behöva undvika det eller fly det. Genom att förhålla sig med omtänksamhet och en vänlig inställning också till obehag kan man efterhand förstå och ta hand om det. Då blir förändring till något nytt möjligt.
Mindfulness.se är en app som ger övningar i just detta. Appen är en digital version av det mycket uppskattade cd/dvd-paketet ”Mindfulness – övningar i sinnesnärvaro”, som idag används av mer än 6 000 personer. Henrik Kok, sjukgymnast och psykoterapeut (KBT) guidar dig igenom övningarna på svenska.
Appen innehåller två gratis meditationer; "Andrum" och "10 minuters sittande meditation". Vill du sedan utöka ditt övande finns det fler guidade meditationer som kan köpas och laddas ner direkt i appen. Det finns även möjlighet att själv ställa in tyst meditation där en klocka ringer med vissa intervall och att föra dagbok över ditt utövande.

This app will remind you to take a few minutes out every day to take a step back and watch your thoughts come and go. The TED talk by Andy Puddicombe explains why it is important to spend time looking after your mind.
While being mindful, you can leave your phone - if the screen turns off it doesn't matter, an alarm will let you know when the mindful time is up. You can change the amount of time you want to be mindful for - the default is 2 minutes. You can also change when (or if) you want to be reminded about being mindful.

Innehåll
Appen ger dig möjlighet att öva mindfulness med hjälp av guidning eller ledd tystnad.
Förutom övningar innehåller appen även korta fakta om mindfulness och effekter av meditationsträningen. Du hittar även råd vid träning samt tips om sitt- och liggställningen, som är särskilt viktiga att tänka på.
Utöver detta finns en praktisk övningsdel och en beskrivande text till varje övning.

Bakgrund
Mindfulness eller medveten närvaro kan beskrivas som ett tillstånd där vi har vår uppmärksamhet och vårt medvetande riktat just i den situation vi befinner oss i för ögonblicket. Det är ett förhållningssätt till livet. Buddhistmunken Thich Nhat Hanh skriver att vi kan lära oss att förnimma friden som finns runt omkring oss och inom oss genom meditationsträning. ”Det är inte en fråga om tro utan om övning.”
Du bör inte lyssna på övningarna när du kör bil eller när du behöver vara alert.
Appen Mindfulness är framtagen av Specialistsjukgymnast Helena Löwen-Åberg tillsammans med Develant Technologies AB. Helena bedriver egen mottagning i Göteborg och har lång erfarenhet av kliniskt arbete med patienter som har stressrelaterade besvär, tinnitus, oro, ångest, långvarig smärta, yrsel och sömnsvårigheter.
