About this app
Markdown Studio is a quiet place to read and write the documents already on your phone. Markdown notes, EPUB books and PDFs in one app, with no advertising, nothing to sign up for and nothing uploaded.
Point it at the folders you already use and it shows what is in them. Nothing is copied into a private library and nothing is moved: your files stay exactly where they are, and edits are saved straight back to them.
READ MARKDOWN THE WAY IT WAS MEANT TO LOOK
GitHub-flavoured Markdown rendered properly: headings, tables, task lists, footnotes, block quotes, links and images, with code blocks coloured by language and maths typeset as real equations. Front matter titles are picked up automatically, and a contents panel lets you jump between headings in a long document.
ESPECIALLY GOOD WITH AI CHAT EXPORTS
Notes saved from AI chat tools often arrive with equations mangled into a tangle of symbols and source text. Markdown Studio repairs the common cases so they render as the formula they were meant to be, and emoji, arrows and symbols display the way they appear in the original.
WRITE WITHOUT HIDING THE MARKDOWN
The editor styles your Markdown as you type, headings look like headings, bold looks bold while keeping every #, * and ` visible, so you always know exactly what is in the file. A toolbar handles formatting, changes save automatically, and if the file is changed by another app while you are editing, Markdown Studio asks which version to keep instead of overwriting it.
BOOKS THAT READ LIKE BOOKS
EPUB books open in a paginated reader: swipe or tap the page edges to turn, and move from chapter to chapter without hunting for a button. Pictures and cover plates are shown, text is selectable, and every reading theme and text size applies to books just as it does to notes.
PDFs THAT OPEN WHERE YOU LEFT THEM
PDFs open at their true size with page thumbnails, search, the document's own outline, and colour inversion for reading at night. Password-protected PDFs are supported.
A LIBRARY THAT KEEPS YOUR PLACE
Keep several folders, switch between list and grid, search the folder you are in, sort by name, date, size or type, and filter to one kind of document. Each file shows how far through it you are, and every document reopens exactly where you left it. Open a file with Markdown Studio from any file manager and it goes straight to the page you were on.
EIGHT READING THEMES
Paper, Sepia, Solar, Dim, Black, Contrast, Nord and Terminal. Pick one and it follows you across Markdown and EPUB alike, independently of the app's light or dark mode. Adjust the text size and line spacing, and choose a serif, sans-serif or monospace face.
EXPORT TO PDF, ON YOUR PHONE
Turn any Markdown document into a clean PDF without it ever leaving your device. Text stays real text, so the PDF is searchable and sharp at any zoom. Maths is typeset, emoji and symbols come through, and you choose the page size, margins, a table of contents, page numbers and whether to keep your reading theme's colours.
NO ADS. NOT ONE, ANYWHERE
No banners, no interstitials, no "watch a video to continue", nothing sponsored. The app is paid for by the people who choose to buy Pro, not by your attention.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
There is no account and no tracking of any kind. Documents are read from and saved to your own folders and are never uploaded. The only time the app goes online is when you open a link, or when a document shows a picture from the web and that can be switched off in Settings.

Reading and editing Markdown, EPUB and PDF is free, along with the Paper and Dim themes, one light and one dark, so the app is usable day and night without paying.
