I've been using this app and card for a while now but it's not the best by far, i get charged for topping it up and get charged again for withdrawals, i visit south America a lot and it's extortion!! £50 minimum top up plus £3 on top and then f### knows how much for withdrawals, i worked out that for a 50 top up i could only get £35 cash in return!! Also i haven't found anywhere that the card works in, I've been embarrassed at petrol stations, restaurants and even the cimema!!! total rip off!!
Not terribly impressed as when I open the app it tells me to go online or call us to activate. I have already set up an online account it it seems easier to access from a bookmark! Had a message saying the site was undergoing done work. Ok now.
Works ok in the shops in USA either swipe/sign or chip/pin. However when I came to top up it point blank refused to connect to my UK bank. Asked for password and then went back to balance. Got round it by using web based top up. Not good though. Also slow to update transactions too.
This is about the app and not the card. On the app I can check my balance, top-up the card and report a lost or stolen card which might be sufficient when I am away. For the full range of account management services such as transferring funds between currency wallets I still have to log into my account on a PC web browser. I think the app replaces the previous system of topping up and checking my balance by text which was one of the services I got the card for in the first place. This downside also raises concerns about the security of public WiFi, which is hard to avoid if staying in a hotel or a campsite, when accessing personal details but data roaming abroad is expensive. For this reason I would find it reassuring to not need internet access to at least check my balance and top-up like I can with a Pay As You Go mobile phone.
The app is fine. You just need the card to be pre-registered as per welcome letter. BUT the exchange rates are very very poor. The card is only useful (in hindsight) to get you out of a sticky situation - eg perhaps you lost your wallet but kept this card in your suitcase. Best to use the card to buy goods, withdrawing cash at an ATM is expensive. Use Google to see extensive (often negative) feedback on this post office solution. I got the card on impulse. Will repent at leisure.
This travel card is absolutely useless...had a transaction cancelled in a shop as it would not go through...money has been deducted from account but not registered on app as a transaction that did not go through..then decided to withdraw cash so this would not happen again..machine indicated I had not sufficient funds...so no money!!! Though app shows I have enough. Totally useless to me as I need up to date information on account on holiday.. especially as it is MY money already in the account!! Post office will have a lot to answer for on my return home.
Improved date picker when logging in.
