About this app

The Florida 511 (FL511) Advanced Traveler Information System (ATIS) is the state’s official source for real-time traffic information. The FL511 Mobile App is a planning tool that provides directions to any destination in Florida with travel times and alternate routes on most roadways throughout the state. Users can also get information on crashes, congestion, construction, closures, and much more on Florida’s interstates, toll roads, and other major roadways.

When planning a trip, the FL511 Mobile App offers a feature where users of the app can request a city, county, or roadway and the app will play back all associated events within a specific radius. Users can both see and hear these events. Travel smart with the FL511 Mobile App to Connect. Know. Go.

By putting the Florida 511 planning tool in Drive Mode before starting their journey, the voice interaction feature allows users to speak requests for traffic information. When there is a traffic incident to report, FL511 Mobile App will announce it, making sure users don’t need to take their eyes and attention off the road.

IMPORTANT – This application is intended to be used before the driver starts their trip. By downloading this Application, the user agrees to use the Application responsibly and to avoid any interaction with mobile devices while driving a motor vehicle. In order to discourage distracted driving, FL511 does not support the use of cell and smart phones while operating a motor vehicle. FL511 is not liable for any crashes that may occur while operating your vehicle. Know before you go.

The use of non-GPS Devices or disabling GPS for the Florida 511 planning tool will limit the functionality of the app.

I got the app but realized I was better off just using the site. The app does not show live camera feed or give a detailed description of where the accident is located. On the site, it's easy to navigate and look at the traffic cams in motion with a specific spot showing the accident. That is super helpful and actually helped me out today on 528 coming home from work I checked the site and it told me the exit, which side of the lane was blocked, the severity and time accident started.

Looks more like a 1990 app. It's clunky and by default, the voice is 100 miles an hour. It does tell you how to get from A to B. That's what it needs. Otherwise, I have to use, for example, one app for directions and the 511 app for traffic conditions. But it's what I expect from Florida.

What happened to this app? Did you lose access to the cameras? Did you lose developers? This version is like the bare bone version of what it was 4+ years ago. Charge if you need to. It was a very good app.
