Paid for the app years ago and was thrilled with it. Now since the update, I can't even access the features I had and it's "forcing" me to buy a subscription just to get (less than) the features I already had that they took away! Not cool to take my money then not provide the service I paid for- that's theft!
I've been geocaching for years. I have the old app on my phone which was free to use. It worked for a long time and now they've discontinued it. My phone broke and I was unable to download the app I used before. I'm very disappointed that the tools I used before, like caching Maps or viewing a satellite image of the map, are only available if I pay for the subscription. Also disappointed that many geocaches are not available to me because they are "advanced" and I need to pay the subscription to be an "advanced" geocacher.
Haven't been back in a while but we moved to a new province this year and I was excited to dive back in, searching a new area. Downloaded the app to my new phone after checking the website, which shows tons of green caches in my area. The app: over 50% are grey. What a disappointment. I'll spend the money you want for premiums on a new skeg for my paddle board. You can keep your app.
The user interface is the biggest update along with being able to read the very few messages that I ever receive. Other than those two mentioned upgrades it is basically the same application that it has been for years. I'm sticking with the c:geo.
So bad it verges on unusable. There's not even a setting to tell it i want distances in miles not km! Unlike the earlier version it doesn't integrate with the Radar in GPS Status. Even after many updates it still lacks functionally the previous version provided. No longer any point in paying subscription because the pleasure of hunting for geocaches with the old app has been replaced with utter frustration trying to use the new one.
Would be am awesome app... If more than half of the caches near me weren't behind a pay wall. And a very expensive pay wall at that. So much for being a fun, free activity like it was 5 years ago when I tried it
Navigating to caches with solved coordinates is no longer a mystery! Now, all caches with solved coordinates will be displayed on the map at those coordinates when solved but unfound. You can easily find your caches with solved coordinates by looking for the puzzle piece icon on the map.
