Review from Amber McNeil
Pretty good A great app that allows groups to stay in contact. Easy to download and easy to change settings/preferences.
My friends and I have used consistently for the last 4ish years. Our group of friends slowly started adopting your platform because of the weird UI between android/apple users within our group of friends. It started with one chat with a few, and has developed into many chats with different topics (gaming, sports, events, etc.) It's slowly become our primary messaging platform, even replacing SMS texts. Love it.
Used to be able to receive pictures/gifs and view them within the thread. Now whenever there is media, whether sent to me or from me within the group, it'll only show up as a link but not a hyperlink. There's nothing to click on. But I do know people within the group are able to see what I post because I get notified that someone has liked something I said. Please fix.
I would have given the app a 5, but I have to go into the app to check it for messages. People with some phones can tell when they have a notification because there is a red number on the icon. My phone does not do that so I have to go into the app to check every day and I miss private notifications altogether unless I have every person open where I can see them This is annoying and detracts from the app in my opinion. It makes it pretty useless for me. I wish you would fix this problem. I had a Samsung note 4. When I got the note 8, I hoped this wouldn't be a problem, but it still is. Please fix this.
I have to use GroupMe because others use it and I hate it. It constantly doesn't send messages and the only way to get them to send is to retype the entire thing because you can't even copy the text of a failed message to paste and send it. So buggy and extremely frustrating for long messages that fail. Would switch immediately if my groups weren't using it.
I'm loving the convenience of group messaging without the messages getting so disjointed, as they tend to do with text messaging. Plus, when my team roster changes, I just need to add or remove someone from the group and then we can continue our communication, not start a new texting thread. I also LOVE being able to calendar events & set reminders, so I don't have to remember to send them myself.
Almost perfect thanks to it's flexibility and coverage of all the essentials of a messaging app: able to message anyone, group or individual, whether you know their phone number or know them from another group convo. Minor issues with navigation, particularly trying to pull up someone's profile, and trying to occasionally force open my message box to features I don't care about.
