Independent news-source, phone-friendly app The developers are doing a brilliant job of re-imagining newspapers for smartphone. Clarity of organisation and speed of access really stand out, as does the readability of the typeface and quality of the photography. If only e-books were being produced with the same level of craft and sympathy! (Come to think of it, the Guardian's format would actually adapt really well to books. So my (dumb) idea for a subscription incentive would be to publish a series of classics & reference books in the format...)
Flaky The content is fine, but the app is too flaky. You have to restart it too often when trying to switch between sections. I tried the beta version and gave up on that, but the full release version is nearly as bad.
Great stuff. Hello. You're on a good app especially if a member or subscribers to the Guardian. The settings allow followed journalists to be turned on an off for their notifications. And further, replies to comments can be turned on to notify you also. The saves area is seemingly inexhaustible and one can wait for the topic to unfold or mature then you can read back to past related saved articles yourself. The best way to then note and save, is by using OneNote in Microsoft..I do. Cool setup... Recommend
Functionality with enthusiasm and flair This app, my daily dose of the Guardian in far-away New Zealand, is indispensable. The app itself functions flawlessly on my (Android) phone, the content stimulates both heart and mind. What more can you ask? Nothing, except "keep it up"!
I read this app first thing in the morning will not leave home without reading the up to date and latest information Great format and content, reliable news, easy to use, I love to read it every day, truly great information at my fingertips, greater every time. This App is great it provide me with the information I need to see around the world. Fantastic news and world information...love reading your news..Fantastic App Positive Information.
Great News App Very customizable. News from the left and right and middle. The only problem is that you can't send others an interesting article or picture without them signing up with The Guardian. Loved the print edition when I lived in Europe decades ago. Now enjoying Android app. Better than all the others... And I have tried them all.
Mostly bug fixes and performance improvements. We've also made some changes to the way we display our commercial content, ensuring that we're clear about the content you're reading and where it came from. There are also some minor updates to the way we display our Membership offering, but most of the changes are under the hood.
