This app was a great way to navigate the Icefields Parkway. I had no cell service and no wifi (the entire trip). I was a bit nervous at first because when I opened the map it said it will take a while to find my location and was continually searching without loading. As we neared Lake Louise, the map fully loaded and played at precisely the exact moment it meant to throughout the trip. This is well worth a few dollars to learn the history of where you are driving.
This has been the best purchase. Can't say enough good things about it. Keeps us in the loop with information and the kids found it interesting to listen to. And the best part NO DATA CONNECTION REQUIRED! All you need is a clear view of the sky to connect with satellites. We purchased all they offer for the Canadian trip! Kudos to GyPSy Tours!
Absolutely loved using this app. It's so much easier listening to great commentary and tips rather than trying to read from a guide book while trying to look at what you're reading about. We would have missed so much on this drive if we hadn't had this app. It is full of interesting information and some great stories. I'll be looking for GyPSy Guides wherever I travel from now on.
When doing the research for our trip to Banff National Park I came across the Gypsy Guide app. I downloaded the free sample at home and we trialled it enroute from Calgary Airport to Banff. We enjoyed it so much, that we purchased the Banff, Lake Louise, Yoho app and the Icefields Parkway app. We saw so many beautiful places that we would otherwise have driven right by! NO DATA required. just download the app where you have wifi access, and the app uses your phone's location to automatically initiate the commentary. Humourous, lots of historical and geographical facts, advice on must-do sights to see as well as advice about the ease of hikes and approximate length of hikes! Well worth the $4.99 per tour!
Enjoyed it very much. Very informative. Would never have known about a few places or would have wasted time on a few others. Would have rated it a 5, but had some issues with the gps being off at times. But highly recommended.
This is an excellent app that helps determine what are must see stops and how long of a hike it will be to see said feature. Sometimes the dialogue will stop and restart or repeat itself as you are leaving a feature because the GPS on your phone is lost and then recaptured or because the the phone GPS map is not quite in sync with the app. It is an issue due to the remoteness of the location.
