• Diffie-Hellman algorithm is used for the initial key exchange between the two parties.
• Outgoing messages are encrypted using AES symmetric cipher with a key length of 128 bits.
• Each message is encrypted with a different random key.

Messages are encrypted not only during transmission but also in the phone memory. Secret keys are never sent from the device in plain text, which means that all communication, including key agreement, can be intercepted without any fear or risk of potential decryption. The messages are also stored encrypted on your phone. Perfect if you just want to maintain your privacy or if you are paranoid.
The app features an inbox, new message screen, and contact list feature. Just like the reqular sms app on your phone.
The connection to the message server is encrypted with a 448 bit secure connection while the messages also are 2048 bit encrypted.
The message is deleted without a trace from the server when you check for new messages (SeCom can check for a new message in the background)

- Clear signed digitally signed message can only be verified by opening the message as an .eml file from the sdcard. The complete message is required for validation. Existing mail clients however do not provide access to the complete message.
- The GET_ACCOUNTS permission is required to get the default sender address
- The READ_CONTACTS permission is required to lookup the recipients for the compose page
Some user complain that the app requires the "read call logs" permission. The app does not read the call logs nor does it need access to the call logs. It needs access to the contact list for recipient lookup on the compose screen. The app is built for older Android releases. In older releases of Android there was no "call log" permission (this "permission" was implicitly included with the contact list permission). The call log permission was later added to Android as an explicit permission. To provide backward compatibility, Android implicitly adds the call log permission if the app is built for older Android releases. DJIGZO, based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, provides products for the protection of email. DJIGZO Email Encryption Gateway is an open source centrally managed email server that encrypts and decrypts email at the gateway level.

Feedback on some reviews:
DJIGZO is fully functional and has been tested on the Galaxy tab despite Mr Croucher negative and false claims. The reason he could not import the keys was that he didn't understand the difference between private keys and certificates and kept on trying to import a .pfx file with the certificate import wizard (which is only for importing certificates, not keys).
Paula reported that she couldn't find any certificates. DJIGZO cannot "automagically" find all externally used certificates. There are three ways to get certificates for recipients: extracted from digitally signed email, manual import or, a certificate can be downloaded from an LDAP server. If a company uses their own LDAP server, add the LDAP server to the list.
About the integration of DJIGZO and email clients. DJIGZO registers itself as an application to handle S/MIME attachments (smime.p7m). If a mail application can download the smime.p7m attachment, it can be decrypted by DJIGZO. Most Android email clients cannot be extended by external apps. Improved integration between existing email clients and DJIGZO can only be done if the email client supports plugins.
jCryptor is a module for manually data encryption and decryption. Application implements the idea of the Symmetric-key cryptography.
'private Messages' allows your personal, private or sensitive messages to be accessed by the intended recipient, and only the intended recipient. Regardless of the content, it delivers the message, giving the sender the peace of mind that it has not been open to viewing by others in any intermediate service center or gateway, or by others with physical access to the sender’s or recipient’s phone.
'private Messages' is a shared secret tool, in which the sender and receiver share a password or passphrase, previously exchanged by an alternative mechanism, for example, by talking to each other.
'private Messages' texts can be protected at three different levels of encoding, depending on the level of security required. At its strongest level it uses Android’s AES-256 (Advanced Encryption Standard symmetric block cipher with a 256 bit key) support. An intermediate level using AES-128 is provided and the lowest level protects data using a character level scrambling algorithm. The 'passphrase' is never saved in the sender's or receiver's phone.
'private Messages' provides simple InBox, SentBox support.
'private Messages' texts are always saved in the sending or receiving phone in encoded form. 'private Messages' texts already in the inBox or sentBox cannot be decoded without the correct passphrase (i.e the one used at their creation).
'private Messages' provides simple settings enabling users to select the level of encoding they require and also their preferred audio or visual warning options.
Contacts can be accessed and drafts can be saved by 'private Messages' when creating a new message.
'private Messages' is positioned as a tool which is complementary to the Android phone standard SMS/MMS application. Its messages are always contained in a single SMS message and hence transmitted using the phone’s standard SMS character support. A consequence of this is that only the recipient’s phone number is required, which can be simply ‘dialed’. No e-mail address or other contact details are required.
Furthermore messages are restricted in length, depending on the level of encoding chosen. It is viewed that the most significant messages (i.e. the messages you are most likely to want to be confidential) are often short.
The cost of private Messages is predictable (single SMS charges are always identified in phone contracts whereas MMS service costs often vary depending on the phone’s connectivity GPS/WI-FI).
Whilst you may already be used to protecting data exchanged in web applications (for example the data flowing over ‘https’ protocol using SSL), it’s possible that you may have overlooked the protection of the SMS messages which you use multiple times in a day. Using 'private Messages' you are significantly decreasing the risk of your messages being viewed by undesired recipients.

A Keypair is created.
With the Public Key you encrypt a message.
With the Private Key you decrypt an encrypted message.
You send your Public Key to the person which wants to send you an encrypted message. The person encrypts the message with your Public Key and sends the encrypted Message to you. ONLY YOU can decrypt the encrypted Message with your Private Key.

- your friend shares you his public key
- now you can send him an encrypted message

- create a keypair if you dont have one
- share your public key to the person which wants to send you an encrypted message.

Attention: Currently some cyanogenmod nightlies have an error while sending multipart sms messages.
The app initially generates a pair of keys on the base of the EC (Elliptic Curve) Cryptografie algorithm. The strength of this key is 521 bits.
The sending of the message between A and B generates a key with a length of 256 bits. This key is used to encrypt the message with the symmetrically Twofish method.
This key encrypted by the public key of B is then sent to the server. Only then will A be able to extract this key with his private key .
A downloads this key, decrypts it and then uses it to decrypt the message.
B can now do the same.
By this procedure you get a GSM-based SMS 521bit encryption!

Be sure no one else can see your mobile messages. Use surespot and everything you send can only be read by the person you sent it to. Period. Everything sent using surespot is end-to-end encrypted with symmetric-key encryption (256 bit AES-GCM) using keys created with 521 bit ECDH shared secret derivation, but you wont notice because security in surespot is built-in, not a layer over something else. Be confident sending private information and pictures, you have control over your messages, when you delete a sent message it will be removed from the receiver's phone and images are not shareable unless you make them so. Multiple identities allow you to be who you want with just who you want, and if anyone gets annoying you can block them. Surespot does not require or store your phone number or email address and we don't mine your data, no advertisements here!
