Seeing the Wonder is for anyone who is missing someone they love, dealing with loss, or looking for a deeper relationship to the wonder of life.
The poem, titled See Me in the Wonder, was initially published as a book for all ages. It brings a gentle message that the loved ones we’ve lost are always with us, and can be found in the beauty that is all around. You can make the experience your own by using options to run the poem as a slideshow, hear narration, and listen to nature sounds and music.
The journal provides a space to gather and share your thoughts and photos. Journal entries can be customized and saved to your gallery for sharing with others. The “random” function will show you a past entry for a moment of serendipity. Use this space to gather observations, memories, quotes, anything that gives your heart a feeling of connection.
NOTE: Long-form journaling is easiest on tablet devices in portrait orientation.
Using this app as a tool for grief and loss:
Grief can cause us to recoil from life, but embracing life can help us realize that we still have a connection to the things we’ve lost. Seeing the Wonder was designed to provide inspiration and encouragement in finding that connection.
The love poem and its illustrations focus on life’s continuing cycles of change. We believe that paying attention to these cycles can provide comfort in the face of loss, as well as the opportunity for insight and discussion. Consider sharing the poem with a child who has questions about death, reading it yourself for a quiet moment of reflection, or as inspiration to seek out the beautiful ways in which life is always continuing.
The picture journal is an invitation to explore and embrace the things that give you a sense of connection. Share your entries with loved ones, and consider asking them to send you memories, pictures, or quotes that you can enter in your journal. Try seeking out unexpected moments of wonder, or giving yourself the challenge of adding one entry each day. We hope that this practice of #SeeingTheWonder helps you rediscover a sense of connection to life, to yourself, and to that which your heart is missing.
