Yo man that's the best! UPDATE (VERY IMPORTANT): Dude, after unbinding device system_server begins draining battery because of high CPU usage. It's trying to poll on deleted file descriptors (try to disable any device and check strace -p <system_server PID>, you'll see). The only way to fix this is to get on gdb and forcely close those fds (but I wasn't able to do this), so I just killed system_server process, and IT DID THE TRICK. I had disabled proximity sensor and no CPU load from system_server! Please think how to manage this stuff, this is *very* important. I flashed fresh CyanogenMod on my SGS3 KitKat 4.4.2 and seems like Proximity Sensor wasn't working properly so every time I was trying to call someone my screen instantly went black, but now I disabled /sys/bus/i2c/drivers/cm36651/9-0018 and everything is great! Thank you very much for making this!

It works !!! But needs improvement Hi folks, my galaxy nexus was misbehaving due to proximity sensor driver. Not sure why google is not fixing this issue. But installed hardware disabler and blocked the sensor. It worked but other sensors like accelerometer, gyro , compass appears to be very slow. No reboot while on call since blocked proximity. This is good tool but needs improvement.
A Google User
Good Concept Need something like this but it finds no drivers in directory of my MB525 running CM7

Does what it says... For me, this is very good app. I found that my proximity sensor is not working and the phone app is freezing because of it so I just found propriate drivers with other app and disable them with Hardware Disabler... Works like a charm. ty

Do the job but... It WILL disable the hardware you choose. For example i used it to disable proximity sensor because it doesn't fully work . I disabled it but other sensors gone crazy after this, they became to act slow, rotation of screen is slow, laggy, etc. You can you it if you want to experiment something but for all-day use it will bring you more problems than good things!

CPU-Z
CPUID
1
Android version of the popular CPU identification tool for PC/Windows., CPU-Z is a free application that reports information about your device.
- SoC (System On Chip) name, architecture, clock speed for each core ;
- System information : device brand & model, screen resolution, RAM, storage.;
- Battery information : level, status, temperature ;
- Sensors.
Requirements :
- Android 2.2 and above (version 1.03 and +)
Permissions :
- INTERNET permission is required for the online validation (see notes below for more détails about the validation process)
Notes :
Online Validation (version 1.04 and +)
The validation allows to store the hardware specification of your Android device in a database. After the validation, the program opens your validation URL into your current internet browser. If you enter your e-mail address (optional), an e-mail with your validation link will be sent to you as a reminder.
Settings screen and debug (version 1.03 and +)
If CPU-Z closes abnormally (in case of bug), the settings screen will appear at the next run. You can use that screen to remove the main detection features of the application, and make it run.
Bug report (version 1.05 and +)
In case of bug, please open the application menu and choose "Send Debug Infos" to send a report by email.
Root Access
Version 1.05 removed Root Access detection because that information was wrongly reported on lot of devices. Restored in 1.07.
Proximity Screen Off Lite
Want to feel what gestures can do? here's an application which will let you turn of your screen just with a swipe!! yes that's right!! All you have to do is swipe your hand over the proximity sensor (Located near the earpiece on top of the phone).
Donate:
https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=FQMVBPXQ6PERN
Features:
1) Turn off the screen by sliding your hand
2) Turn off the screen by Covering the sensor for a duration of time (Tap and Hold)
3) Turn on the screen by Covering the sensor for a duration of time (Tap and Hold) - Note: This can cause Battery Drain
4) Enable screen on/off during calls only
5) ScreenOff shortcut, to turn off the screen by launching the app.
6) Based on your device select the sensor of your choice, or the one that's available and configure their values, as they are different for different devices.
Motivation to build this app:
1) While the phone is in pocket, and you have your bluetooth headset connected, even though you can answer your call with a click of bluetooth headset button, because the screen goes on and remains on, your call may hang-up or go on hold or probably few buttons may get pressed, isn't that annoying?
2) Lot of android phones don’t turn off the screen when phone is held close ear (You may end up hanging up on someone)
3) Accidental call pickups: Since capacitive screens are sensitive to touch as well as heat, An Incoming call gets picked up automatically when phone is in the pocket (And we get obliged to speak to annoying calls)
4) Its Cool!!!
5) If you are a HD2 user, you would know the pain. Many users have replaced that hardware buttons due to usage!!!
NOTE: To un-install, go Settings, Locations & Security, Select Device Administrators and disable the ScreenOff App
For Support: Post you questions on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9884280#
Tested On:
1) HD2, Desire HD, Nexus One, Motorolla Xoom(Light Sensor), DROID Incredible

Proximity Sensor Finder
Proximity Sensor Finder does what it says - it helps you locate the proximity sensor on your Android device. It is a very simple, purpose-built app with no flashy graphics.
Proximity Sensor Finder tells you a few things about your device:
1. Does the device have a proximity sensor?
2. Is an object in close proximity detected?
3. Does this device support actual proximity distances or just "covered" and "uncovered" sensor states?
4. For supported devices, exactly how far away is the object?
5. How long has the sensor been covered?
6. How much power is the proximity sensor consuming?
We developed Proximity Sensor Finder as an internal testing tool but it soon became apparent that there was a need in the market for just such an app, so we decided to ship it and make it free!
Internet and location permissions requested are just for ads, no other data is transmitted or received.
Phone Tester (sensors, GPS...)
Phone tester is a free app that allows you to analyze and test your device's hardware and components, to make sure everything is operating correctly.
You'll be able to test the following:
You'll be able to test the following:
***SENSORS***
Accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, proximity sensor, pressure sensor... You'll be able to check which sensors are supported by your phone and all the information and values provided for each sensor.
***WIFI***
You'll be able to check your LAN status: internal & external IP, gateway, DHCP server...
***TELEPHONY***
Signal, network type, external IP, SIM data...
***GPS***
You'll see the real data provided by the GPS: satellites, latitude, longitude, altitude, speed...
***BATTERY***
Level of charge, time on, temperature, health...
***MULTITOUCH***
How many points of contact does your device recognize?
***SYSTEM INFORMATION***
Information about hardware and software like CPU, RAM, kernel version, screen...
This app is similar to EVEREST or AIDA64, but apart from showing the components and system information, it also shows sensors readings.
The Pro version of Phone Tester displays more information (CPU speed, phone memory, sd card memory) and removes the ads.
