We know the stress of finding the right toilet in time. Our small team of people affected by and related to chronic inflammatory bowel disease has made it their mission to tackle this challenge and develop the best possible solution.

The basic functions of the WC finder are completely free:

These include, for example, a list of the nearest open toilets, which you can navigate to directly via Google Maps.

Those who want to view locations on a map, filter for Eurokey-compatible restrooms, and create favorites lists can use these features without limits in the optional Plus version.

Everyone knows this situation – especially in unfamiliar surroundings:

The nearest suitable restroom is simply nowhere to be found or in terrible condition.

Whether on foot, in a wheelchair, on a bicycle, or by car – such situations are stressful.

If you also happen to be among the more than 50% of people in Germany with chronic illnesses, or need the nearest restroom quickly for another reason, it can become even more stressful.

During development, we placed particular emphasis on making the user interface as intuitive and accessible as possible.

We want everyone, regardless of their digital skills or limitations, to be able to find the right restroom for them.

For example, all buttons that open a subpage or select a setting are designed in a uniform gold orange to ensure ease of use.

Together, as a small startup, we developed the WC Finder app in collaboration with two patient advocacy groups (CBF Darmstadt e.V. and CHRONISCH GLÜCKLICH e.V.).

Based on the symptoms of chronic inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), the goal of eliminating stress while out and about became our benchmark.

These diseases cause symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, general malaise, and other debilitating symptoms – often accompanied by an urgent need to find a toilet.

Confronting these symptoms is potentially a lifelong, recurring experience – therefore, sustainable support is needed to reduce this stress factor.

Finding the right restroom not only directly improves the quality of life and reduces anxiety for people with bowel disease.

During development, it became clear that not only people with chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are interested in such a service. Whether on vacation, after a bike ride, or in everyday life – people with and without disabilities can experience real added value. No stress on the go!

The foundation is a directory from the 1980s: the so-called Locus Book, a directory of accessible restrooms with the standardized Eurokey locking system, is now digital.

The result: the first restroom finder app that unites all Eurokey locations in Germany.

With over 15,000 locations, the app always has a suitable restroom at hand and offers reliable navigation as well as personal favorites lists.

Thanks to user entries and reviews, this app means less stress on the go.

More than 40 years of the Locus Book – now also digital!
