eXtream Software Development has written custom USB audio code from scratch because Android does not support USB audio. No rooting is required.

Your USB audio device must be class-compliant in order to work: USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 class-compliant devices are supported with either USB audio spec 1.0 or 2.0. Devices that require you to install specific drivers under Windows or OSX will usually not work.

Make sure to connect your audio device BEFORE starting the app. If you get a message on start-up saying that the device failed to initialize, your device will not work (for now). Reasons can be that your Android device does not meet the requirements, it does not supply enough power (try a powered hub), the USB audio device is not class-compliant or you are not using an OTG cable (if needed).

If you are connecting using Wi-Fi, virtually all 1ghz+ Android devices are supported (your camera needs Wi-Fi support, though). If you are connecting over USB, your device needs USB host support. Nexus Photo Viewer allows you to view the JPEG photos from a USB flash drive or SD card on your Nexus 7 (G1 and G2), Nexus 5, & Nexus 10, Galaxy Nexus, Xoom or other Android 4.0+ devices that do not support mounting external flash storage. Requires the following hardware. 1) A USB OTG Cable (Cost approximately $1-5 USD on Amazon), 2) A USB Flash Drive or USB SD Card Reader and SD Card. See screenshots for hardware examples.

Technical Notes:

-The Nexus 4 does not support OTG/USB Host and can not be supported.
-DOES NOT REQUIRE ROOT!
-The USB drive must be formatted as FAT16, FAT32 or NTFS. These are the most common formats for flash drives.
-Hard Drives.  It is strongly recommended that you use external power when connecting a hard drive to a tablet.  Please see the troubleshooting guide on my web site for more information.  Do not connect an unpowered hard drive to a phone!

The app. detects and offers solutions to issues around USB Host and OTG cables. THIS SOFTWARE WILL NOT MOUNT OR SHOW THE FILES ON A USB DRIVE. It verifies your OTG cable is good and that Android can see the USB device. Other software may be required to see the files.

Usage:
1. Disconnect your OTG cable when prompted.
2. Connect your OTG cable when prompted.
3. If everything is OK, you will get 4 green check marks. If nothing happens or you get less than 4 green checks, tap More Info (Web) for a description of the problem.

Software can not overcome a hardware limitation. If your device does not support OTG, nothing will happen when you connect the cable. Please do not write a bad review because your hardware does not support OTG! If your device does support OTG and it is not detected by this software, please contact me via the "Email Developer" link.
