The Regional Madkultur Vestjylland association consists of local producers, companies and restaurants. Regional Madkultur Vestjylland is a member of the European network, Regional Culinary Heritage, which has member regions all over Europe. The network aims to develop individual regions through the promotion of local and regional foods.
Our region is in the western part of Region Midtjylland in Denmark and includes the Ringkøbing-Skjern, Lemvig, Struer, Holstebro, Skive and Herning municipalities.
In West Jutland we have the best ingredients right at hand: what we breed on our farms and grow in our fields, along with nature’s own herbs, fish and game. Products that are ready to be enjoyed clean and raw – and products that are tempting to refine and renew using modern technologies.
Among the regional products are fish and shell fish from the fjords and the sea. Game and honey from nature’s own larder. Even rape seed oil and local wine are found in the region. Furthermore, the area has a variety of meat products from free range pigs, beef cattle, bison, lamb, deer and poultry – all bred in Western Jutland’s wonderful nature.
Agriculture dominates both view and vision in our region, which is beautifully framed with the impressive hilly glacial landscape and characterised by moors, fjords and coastal scenery along the North Sea.
Welcome to West Jutland!
