Walking on Ohlone Land (Walking) serves as a framework for using AR to reveal stories buried in the landscape. We worked with community stakeholders to develop a multimedia telling of Ohlone history that appears in the very place it happened. As interaction designers we aim to create Mixed Reality technologies to amplify the voice of a community. This type of AR tool can be applied to all sorts of stories and perspectives.
Use the in-App Map to find the locations of the images and objects that can be augmented.
Open the AR Camera and point it at the targets.

The Indigenous history of the Bay is essential to our understanding of the land we walk on and the actions we take as modern stewards of the environment. Essentially, here in the SF Bay Area, we are all Living on Ohlone Land. This application supports that advocacy and is designed to appeal to people who are tech savvy, but might not know about the history just below their feet.
