About this app

Uncertain about your device's Root status?

Basic Root Checker offers a fast, simple, and reliable way to verify root access (also known as superuser privileges) on your Android device. Whether you're an advanced user, a developer, or just curious if your phone or tablet is rooted, this app provides an instant, definitive answer — and now tells you which root manager you're using.

What Basic Root Checker Does:
* Accurately Checks for Root Access: Get a clear answer about your device's root status, with four possible outcomes — rooted, not rooted, not yet granted, or unknown.
* Identifies the Root Provider: Detects Magisk, KernelSU, and APatch, and shows you which one is on your device — along with the Magisk version when root is granted.
* Detects Pending Grants: Even if root is installed but the app hasn't been allowed access yet, Basic Root Checker recognizes it and offers a one-tap "Request Root access" button.
* Falls Back to Plain "su" Binaries: Devices rooted without a recognized manager are still detected by scanning the common su binary paths.
* Instant Verification: Quickly determine if your device has superuser capabilities.
* Simple & Intuitive: Material 3 design with dynamic colors on Android 12+, available in English, German, Arabic, Spanish, and Russian.

Important Considerations:
* DOES NOT Root Your Device: Basic Root Checker is purely a diagnostic tool. It will NOT modify your device, install any root files, or assist in the rooting process. It simply checks if root access is already present on your system.
* Understand Your Rooted Environment: Interacting with a rooted device involves system modifications and carries inherent responsibilities. This app empowers you with accurate information to better understand your device's root status and manage your rooted environment.

Your Privacy Matters:
* Basic Root Checker does not collect personal data from your device. Anonymous usage statistics via TelemetryDeck are enabled by default to help improve the app, and can be disabled at any time from the app's settings.

Disclaimer:
* This app is an independent tool and is not endorsed by or affiliated with topjohnwu or libsu.

Doesn't detect KernelSU root unfortunately Edit: thank you for taking the time to reply! I've since moved to Magisk (was still learning about root back then) so I can't really test the KSU detection anymore. Is there anything else worth testing on the beta build?

I have a version in Beta that improves root detection, try it out. Edit: I've added Magisk detection. If it is possible to test that

literally fake news, my device is rooted 100% but the app says it's not rooted. not to mention it gave me the wrong phone model. If your gonna make an app, at least make it better.

Works as intended and has a Material You look. Perfect for checking root, better than Root Checker which asks for payments and has ads.

What’s new

Version 2.1:
➕ Detects the root provider — Magisk, KernelSU or APatch — and shows it on the result card
➕ Shows the Magisk version once root is granted
➕ New "Not granted" state when root is installed but the app hasn't been allowed yet, with a button to request access
➕ Detects plain "su" binaries too, so devices rooted without a manager aren't missed
➕ Added support for Android 17
🛠️ About and Licence screens are now fully edge-to-edge
