AdAid - Make A Difference, Effortlessly

Contains Ads

Imagine if you could really make a difference with zero effort, zero time and zero money...

AdAid does not access your private or personal data. No sign in is required and we use no intrusive special permissions like 'access to your camera', 'microphone' or 'GPS'. We will never access or sell your personal data. The apps sole aim is to use your phones processor while you are not to raise money for charity.

AdAid uses the computing power of your phone overnight to create a supercomputer made up of thousands of idle phones. This supercomputer can be used for various computational tasks. This rages from university research to climate forecasting. Organisations pay a fee to use the supercomputer, this fee is passed on to your selected charity.

AdAid gives ordinary people the extraordinary chance to change the world, save lives and create a better future. AdAid exists to allow people to make a difference without having to part with their hard earned money, time or labour and the more people who use AdAid, the better it works and the more valuable it becomes.

In your pocket sits more computing power than was used to land man on the moon. Indeed, your smartphone today is more powerful than IBM’s Deep Blue Supercomputer that defeated Garry Kasparov - the reigning world chess champion -in 1997. Deep Blue was the world's 259th most powerful supercomputer at the time.

Yet, this immense computing power sits idle for 6 hours every night, whilst we sleep. AdAid changes that, we harness this massive untapped resource to fund great charitable causes.

With just 600,000 users, we would create the most powerful supercomputer in the UK, ahead of the computer that predicts global weather at the Meteorological Office. It would be the 27th most powerful in the world, with 4.2 PetaFLOPS.

Download AdAid today to start making a difference for your favorite charity. Simply 1. Pick a Charity 2. Choose a time you are normally asleep by 3. Watch the money roll in for your charity

The app can be closed at anytime and does not interfere with everyday use of the device.

A lifetime of use can represent over £1,000 for your charity, an indisputably significant sum.

How Does It Work?

AdAid uses a well established concept called volunteer computing, essentially; when the app launches, at a time you have selected, it downloads tiny parts of huge research projects from the cloud to calculate and sends the results back.

Will It Drain Or Degrade My Battery?

Within the app we provide an option to only use the app when you have sufficient battery to do so (this is 30% battery) the app will only launch if you have more than 30%, this way the app will not drain your battery to zero overnight. The screen is off whilst the app runs in the background.

We also recommend you charge your phone overnight, whilst the app is running, to avoid any unwanted draining. Contrary to old myths, charging your phone overnight is not detrimental to the health of the battery. See:

The app will not degrade the battery anymore than any other app you use regularly on your phone, you can always check the apps battery consumption by going to your phones settings. Settings > Device > Battery or Settings > Power > Battery Use to see a list of all apps and how much battery power they're using. If you are not happy with the level of power consumption from AdAid you can uninstall the app altogether at anytime.
