Solid App I'm running Samba server on a 1st generation Kindle Fire, rooted on Jelly Bean [4.3]. The app runs fine. No problem connecting to the share on Windows Server 2003, Windows XP SP3, and Windows 7 Home Premium. I have even mapped the share as a drive for ease of use. While my device is rooted, this should only affect what ports you may use and what paths you can share [roots]. This should still work otherwise with those restrictions.
Almost works with Mac OS X 10.8 Under Mac OS X 10.8 the drive mounts but when I try to copy a file to it the Finder reports error -50. The file gets created, but its empty. Oddly, if I use the Terminal and cp command I can copy the file just fine. It would also be nice, if the app could enable adhoc wifi networking automatically as an option ;-)
corrupted files & solution I was doing extensive tests with this. My files were arbitrarily getting corrupted (mostly on large ones, but small ones as well) when uploaded from my linux box with a cifs mount. The android one is HomeSync with ext4 filesystem on sdcard. After spending countless hours, testing with ethernet, wifi, different cables, etc, finally I just added the following to the mount options on my linux box: cache=none, nobrl and then it started working without issues! If you face file corruption, try it.
Awesome Brother you are the man! I've tried different, more 'fancier' apps and none could do what your app was capable of. Im running a 1TB external drive off an old android tablet as a makeshift NAS for home streaming/file access to any pc/android device and im running my internal and external tablet drives on the network. I THANK YOU SIR ☺
It works It does what it's supposed to do but could use some work on the interface. It's hard on the battery and the ads are annoying. I mean, if it were a better app then the ads might be worth it but at this point it's not.
Can't Connect To the server from mac SMB server on Nexus Player Marshmallow [rooted] Trying to access the SMB server from Mac, says connection failed! Will update my rating once I get the app to actually work!!! -------- UPDATE: error: "There are no shares available or you are not allowed to access them on the server. Please contact your system administrator to resolve the problem." Note: I've added "/storage/emulated/0/" as the root folder!
