Review from Stephen Demirjian
Takes alot of patience to get these idevices working properly as they are not a simple plug, connect and use device! I have 3 plugs and 2 light sockets connected using Alexa! To help eveyone out, first count all wifi connected devices in your household (phones,tv,tablets,ect...) and ensure your router and speed can handle it all or you may need to upgrade like I had to. Ensure that your phone is connected to the slower 2.4 GHz on dual routers and stop any app from auto updating as this slows everything down. When setting up the idevice app and creating an account to link with Alexa, I also had to create an account on the desktop website in order for Alexa to finally recognize idevice skill! Connecting each device had to be done right next to the router using an extension cord because it will not pair most of the time from a distance! If it doesn't pair, cancel setup and reset the device holding the button until flashing red then try to add it again! FYI-If you change routers, you'll have to go through this process all over again with each device. Once connected, you can unplug and plug back in wherever you intended it to be without issues. Once it works, they work great but definitely a hassle as I was on the verge of returning these myself! I did not use their customer service for support and the reviews on here were not helpful nor are the idevice customer support responses, as these just seem automated. Hope this helps!
Just funnels you into the weber Igrill app that doesn't work and insists on location to function. Avoid!
Why don't you make a widget for your app? It will make everything easier.
App loses device connection. Return manual electricity cost input!
Wasn't the best setup or easiest, but in the end it does work. The other thing that should be fixed is the precalculated kWh. This is so drastically wrong it's sad. You either need to get the right prices or allow the user to manually set their actual cost so that can get accurate numbers.
Since Weber purchase igrill they have gone downhill to the point they are now rendered useless with the latest update. Why does a thermometer need to k ow where you live and location just to set it up. With latest update you can't even use it. Had my igrill mini for 3 years and igrill 2 for 2 years. Going to purchase Tappecue WiFi thermometer where I can actually go do things miles away from the smoker and still able to get all cooking info. Sorry Weber bad business move to purchase igrill. Worked great before you acquired them. Don't waste your money on something so fickle.
This app is getting worse with every update. First required you to update every time you try to use the thermometer, now it's making you sign in and now I can't find the device because it's not an Android device. Now I have to spend more time with support and hope that it might work eventually. But in the meantime the roast in the oven will have to be measured the old-fashioned way, not using this thermometer. I guess we need to make sure the thing works before we ever put something in the oven. Pathetic.
