It works. It's easy. I sign in and my lights run their routines, nothing needs to be backed up. I flash a lot of custom ROMs and the cloud design makes it very hands off. Unfortunately, the theme of hands off sacrifices granularity. The command structure is exactly what this app promises: if then than that. I wish IFTTT catered more to power users and allowed for more complex chains of commands. However, I will give this service a bonus point for the Maker applet. Overall, IFTTT serves as a good entry point for the smart home enthusiast. It is plug and play with everything safely in the cloud. It's simplicity is a virtue and a caveat. It leaves you craving more power very quickly for the power user. 4/5
This major redesign made this app a lot more confusing. Before, recipes and channels were easy to get to and edit or create. Now the app is a big mess. Last update broke location based applets.
Really unreliable. Applets just stop working. I have to edit and save them again to get them going. What's the point of automation if you constantly have to check on whether they are working?
Very temperamental app. I've got it set to do very simple things and it fails the majority of the time. The idea is great but the solution needs a lot of work.
If you're happy with 33% success, get this app. Very simple applets, severely limited functionality, and still they only work about 1/3 of the time. Frustrating. Simple Wi-Fi toggle exiting=off, entering=on. Need 2 applets, each functions correctly almost 1/3 of the time. I've met this kind of "success" with every applet I've used. Terrible.
Great applets but they only self initiate 25% of the time. The rest of the time I have to open IFTTT for the applet (location and time based) to start. Very annoying.
We made some small changes:
+ We added a message to help you set up Applets using the Android device mute and volume adjustment actions.
+ We squashed a few small bugs.
Thanks for IFTTT-ing!
