Seemed nice, but really not worth the price !! Especially since it contains only english translation and english books... You can find other great solutions for a lot cheaper. Also not so good interface and no true SRS system for the kanji you already learned.

Great app, but the required subscription is too expensive. I feel like you should offer a free version and a premium version with more features, rather than locking all functionality after the free trail. Uninstalling.

Very expensive and clunky system for adding words, plus it keeps hammering me with words I know already... not easy to customise lists. I just want to add JLPT N3 kanji, the stuff I need to learn. I'm good with computers (ran an elearning consultancy) and I found the UI very clunky. For this money I'd expect a smoother experience. Going back to paper.

Good app but unrealistic pricing It's an OK app but not worth usd14.99 a month, its a saturated market and I would be curious to know how many subscribers are coming in at this price point. It's okay, but I won't pay that price. Something like this is more suitable to a one off payment not subscription.

Stop throwing learned words at me! Please for crying out loud, spaced repetition is intended to MINIMIZE unnecessary item reviews. List management is rubbish, why can't I remove my old empty lists? Regardless still the best there is for Kanji writing retention, though too expensive for my liking.

I've been using Skritter for years and it has helped me to learn 1000s of Kanji. I highly recommend it to anyone who's serious about learning Japanese

Streamlines the kanji learning process! I don't use Skritter for vocabulary, so I can't comment on that, but I do use it for learning kanji, and it's fantastic! I can use it efficiently wherever I am (preferably at home with a tablet)! It makes the learning process so much faster for me; nothing obstructs my progress and everything is made incredibly easy for me. Since kanji and vocabulary are separate, I do wish they had a separate cheaper tier for only kanji, but I can't complain because doing kanji in Skritter is relatively painless!

Hi Veronika, glad you're enjoying the app. No longer shall there be wasted time! Almost Perfect I have always loved skritter.I just got back into using it BECAUSE I found out they got an app. Its convenient and works like site but some of the words don't have audio. So I have to click to show the kanji and then how will I know if I actually knew how to draw it. Over I love skritter it is the best tool for writing Japanese.

Hey Amanda, glad you're liking the more mobile experience. I do have some good news about Japanese audio. A few weeks ago we started recording for commonly studied words without audio and hope to release a batch of it in the near future. Does not work. Pressing the 'study' button informs you that there are no words to study (even though there are) so I go okay, add 10 words. Blank screen, go back. Click 'study' again, it tells me I don't have any words to study. But online, the 10 words I added were indeed successfully added. Please fix this. This service is not worth $100+/year.

Hey Hamish, thanks for your feedback and we're hoping to get this issue resolved as quickly as possible. I just wanted to let you know we've received your e-mail and gotten back with you. Skritter December 8, 2014
Hey Matt, yes you can try it for free during the one week trial period. After that you can continue reviewing your words from the trial for free, but a subscription is required to continue adding new words. If you have other questions or concerns feel free to contact me directly at: josh@skritter.com One of the best flash cards apps for learning kanji. It's one of the best I've tried. The diacritical marks on kana can be a bit finicky though.
Skritter December 4, 2014
Hey Jason, thanks for the feedback! The diacritical issue has hopefully been corrected and will go out with in next update. Feel free to email me directly at josh@skritter.com with other comments or concerns. Way over-priced, considering it's just another vocab and character app $15/month subscription, no one time fee? That's crazy! Anything I can do on this app, I can do with ankidroid's drawing board function. It's nice having everything integrated into one app (audio, drawing characters, vocab), but for free and a little more effort on my part (a mix of ankidroid decks, character drawing apps like tegaki kanji) I can get all that and more--grammar, audio, characters, sentence reading, etc. Bring it down to like $2-3 a month, or make it a flat fee like a reasonable person. Otherwise, I don't think your business model will work.
Skritter December 30, 2014
Hey Christopher, thanks for the feedback. We feel that Skritter offers a unique experience which helps people reach their writing goals better, faster and with less hassle than other methods. While we don't offer a one time fee the yearly subscription comes at a 45% discount bringing it down to around $8 a month. Annoyed I don't appreciate that it makes you sign up your email and neglects to mention you'll need to start paying after a seven day trial. I would have created the account on a different day so I could prioritize learning. I might have even payed for an account but that's bullshit Scritter.
Skritter May 27, 2015
Hey Kelsey, we understand that sometimes people don't get the chance to fully try out Skritter during the trial period. Feel free to shoot us an e-mail at team@skritter.com and we'd be more than happy to give you an extra week whenever you're ready for it. Not worth it Just not worth the subscription fees. At all. Tried this app on my grandmothers hudl and now that I have a new phone, I can't download the 146MB app as it will take up ALL of my remaining space. When you consider that you can get all of the functionality of this app by downloading Memrise and Obenkyo, both of which are free forever, payment for extra features optional, paying for this app just isn't worth it. Go download Obenkyo and Memrise for free, AND you'll get less bugs.
Please PLEASE i will pay for this if you can add the japanese radicals to this, what strokes, their meanings and the names and pronounciation of the radicals themselves. Please i neeed it i will pay for this
Skritter November 21, 2014
Howdy, we have a list dedicated to radicals that you can search for an add from lists screen. We do show the radicals of individual kanji on the information panel and are working on showing this on all words. Feel free to contact me directly at: josh@skritter.com Review deleted
