Instapaper has gone downhill since ver. 4.3.1! I use that version every single day as an intermediate step in sharing news articles in Evernote for a permanent archive. Version 4.3.1 allows me to select all of the text and share it (versions 4.4 and 4.4.1 do not allow that.) I checked the settings to see if that feature was just turned off but that was not the case. I would give 5 stars to version 4.3.1 (I save APK files of all of the apps I install which I can sideload if an upgrade does not work properly for me.)
Pretty good app for offline reading. Even has folders for you to organize your articles. The downside is it does not allow you to manually sort your article order. It would be nice if there's the option to stop an article from syncing with the original page as sometimes the original is removed and the saved article also disappears. And it would be nice if it lets me save as many articles offline as I want instead of limiting it to 100 articles.
I used to use pocket when this app was in rough shape but over time this app has become much better. No ads or bloat, and a ton of features actually useful for reading! A built in dictionary, filters by length, audio transcription, the ability to save useful passages... fantastic work overall.
I love the concept, and I'm sticking with the app because it does a number of things I want. But a couple things keeps it from that 5-star review. First, there's a major bug: when typing a note, it doesn't scroll, so once you've written a few lines, you can't see what you're writing. A huge issue for me, which almost led to a 3-star review. PLEASE fix! Second, there are a few features I'd like: tags or assigning articles to multiple folders for better organization; an indicator that articles are read or unread; and multiple highlighting colors. Overall, though, the app outdoes the competition.
Great for saving articles to come back to later. Allows search for free as opposed to Pocket. My problem is that it doesn't allow articles to be stored on the external SD card - no such option. Any app which can let you download lots of data should give an option to store on external SD, this is pretty basic in my opinion.
I use both Pocket and Instapaper, personally I find Instapaper more reliable for offline reading as it seems to save articles properly, whereas the same ones on Pocket might not save properly and then you need to go online which defeats the entire point of the app. Instapaper doesn't look as nice as Pocket but I'd say it does a better job overall
Increased efficiency and reliability of syncing articles.
