The free version is an ad-supported version and scanned documents are generated are with watermark, plus a limit of 30 pages of adding annotations; Uploading to Evernote/OneDrive is only available for 7 days; Invite 10 collaborators per document at most.

Permission Overview:
1. Storage: CamScanner needs permission to store docs in your phone.
2. Camera: CamScanner needs permission to use camera to scan docs.
3. Phone: In order to bind Premium membership to your device or to ensure normal use without login, CamScanner needs to get your device ID.

edit: My original review below was in 2016 and STILL appplies.. that's how amazing it is and continues to be. This app is super intuitive, easy to use, and the pictures come out amazing as if you were really scanning them. When I was forced to take online classes for the remainder of my college turn, this was a LIFE SAVER. Not only that, I could scan my homework on the go - at a diner, in the break room, in a car/bus. I couldn't have graduated without it!! I would give it more stars if I could!

It's sad that you can't do anything with this app now unless you pay $$ It worked well when you needed to scan something fast and email it. Update not sure what Camscanner customer service is talking about, their is no free version. You scan something and then when you go to save it, it ask you to pay $29.99 a year or $49.99 a year and if you click no, it takes you back to the editing screen which then you can't do anything. So if you want to pay for it go for it, I'll just use Adobe for free!

I was told about this app 10 or 11 years ago when I had a job and needed to send copies of a form I was filling out in stores. This app is great for when you need to scan a document (I've never done pictures) and email it. It looks professional and you can't even tell it was done with a phone or tablet. You can even get it to scan multiple pages so you send all of the pages together instead of as separate scans. I haven't had that job for 9 years now but I still use CamScanner!
