While as many as twenty species of shark are known to inhabit the western North Atlantic waters, little is known about their distribution, movements or occurrence. Sightings of all shark species will provide a better understanding of shark distribution and occurrence.
The Shark Identification Network (SIN) is a platform for reporting Canadian shark sightings. SIN was founded by the Grand Manan Whale and Seabird Research station in partnership with WWF-Canada.
Features:
• Report your sighting to the our shark sightings database
• View all shark sightings on an interactive map that covers all of Atlantic Canada
• Learn more about how to identify different species of shark
